Round 4: Must include Tom Cruise in the cast or making of the film. Only screen shots may be used (No poster art at all). Must include an image of a woman on the front.

Round 3: Must star a male actor who was born between 1960 and 1980, and is set in the future. (Future is 2008 plus)

Round 2 - You must include a vehicle as a main theme (i.e Airplane, Cars, Yellow Submarine, etc). Entries must be sent to me by 18th October.

Round 1 - You must create a cover for a movie that was released between 1960 and 1995 and is available on DVD . (Remember you may create a cover for DVD, Blu-Ray or HD DVD) All entries must be sent to admin@hirescovers.net by 12:00pm GMT BST Wednesday 19th September. Please remember to include your member name when sending in your entry.

Round one will begin on Wednesday the 12th September 2007. I will be announcing the first 'element' then. You will have until Wednesday the 19th September to send in your entries. Any entries not received by that date will not be entitled to carry on in the competition.

Please Note: This Competition Will Not Begin Until We Have A List Of Judges And Entrants. I Will Post Here Again When The Competition Is Starting. Please Inform Me If You Would Like To Take Part.

We are trying something a little different for this month’s competition. Instead of making one cover, we are going to have a knock-out tournament. But, as a twist, each round you will have to design a cover that includes a specific element and /or theme). It could be anything from a stone background, to having to feature a shoe (IMG:style_emoticons/default/8824.gif) These details will be decided over the next few days. There will also be a set panel of judges, so please can I have some volunteers to help.

So, basically we will have four rounds, with one week to design a cover (for each round), and one week to judge it. The first round will include all of you. Which will hopefully be more than 10 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/winking.gif) ? (If it isn’t, then we will have to rethink the amount of contestants for each round.) The panel of judges will then have one week to vote on each cover, accumulating a top 10 for each judge. I will then put these scores together, and the ten contestants with the most overall votes, will be announced, and entered into the next round.

Round two. A new element will be decided for this round. If you were selected as a top ten contestant from round one, you will need to include this element in this weeks cover. Again, you will have a week to design your cover. The judges will then have another week to decide their top ten, which will give us 5 contestants for the next round.

Next round; a new element, and just 5 contestants. This time, only two contestants will go through for a final round.

Final Round, the two contestants will battle head to head, using the element designated, and will have up to two weeks to complete their cover. Obviously if they both finish before the deadline, then we can move straight on to the judging. Again, I will collate the judges scores, to give us our winner.

Here are the rules for the competition:

Hi mate & hope all is well with you.I am currently back & forth to the hospital at this time & i it is therefore difficult for me to work under time constraints.Had some cortisone injections in my shoulders/knees but still unable to spend too much time & at one sitting without it being painful mate.Therefore with regret ,i would be unable to fulfill the requirements as laid out.
However i don,t mind helping you with the judging if that is of any use to you.

I needed a day to think about it because it will become very difficult for me to make a cover in a weeks time.
I really had a doubt if i would enter the comp, but at the other hand it would be a challenge for me to make a cover in less then a week. (sometimes i work a whole month on a cover). (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure1.gif)
But why shouldn't i join the comp for fun with some nice friends around. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/yellow.gif)

I am sorry to say that I will not be able to participate in the event as I am starting the recovery process after having an operation on my spine, due to badly damaging it 4 years ago moving a P.C. at work, it left me with a choice of have the op or run the risk of being in a wheelchair later in life, the op seemed the better choice. So although I have time on my hands I can't spend it sitting in front of a P.C. at the moment. I have already tried making something lying down but that doesn't work much to the wifes annoyance.

So good luck to all for this comp with a difference and Darrren, if you are short on judging and it is something that won't kill me I would be willing to try that to help out. P.M. me if you need or feel I can do anything.

I was just thinking yesterday after seeing Maya's "Transformers" .........damn, there are some "hot" young designers "on the up"........
Then looking at these covers convinces me that "new-kids-on-block" are taking over the cover world and making a damn fine job of it too........I take my hat off to all you guys and all your superb entries, you seem to be able to knock class covers out for fun!...........As for me I get blood pressure and need a lay down even before I can even think of opening up PS to compete against you guys.
