The HiResCovers Challenge is a monthly activity designed to promote friendly competition, artistic growth and plain ol' fun among members. The concept is simple: each month you will be given a theme, which will vary month-to-month, and you simply make a cover satisfying the theme.

The Details:

1. On the 5th of the month, the HRC theme will be announced.
2. ANY member from the site may take part.
3. You can make a DVD or Blu-ray cover, but the cover must adhere to the HiRes upload rules.
4. You may submit 2 covers per theme. If you are entering more than one cover, then they should be unique from each other.
5. Your chosen cover must be listed on www.imdb.com or rottentomatoes. If a movie genre is selected for the theme, entry titles must be listed under this genre on either of these sites.
6. You may not post your covers for help, in this forum, or any other. Entries should be your own work, with no assistance from anyone else.
7. No names or identifying marks on your work!
8. Your full-size cover must be submitted before the 25th of the month 00:00 GMT, unless specified otherwise.
To clarify, 00:00 GMT is the beginning of the said date, not the end of the said date, so entries should be sent in by the end of the 24th. However, you have until the entries are posted, which will be around 10am ON the morning of the said date (GMT). But to guarantee your entry is reached in time, please send it in by the official deadline.
9. All entries should be submitted using the Competition Submission link.
10. Your cover must be new. You may not submit entries that have already been uploaded or created before the competition. This includes templates previously used.
11. All entries will be uploaded in the gallery.
12. Voting will be done by survey, by all members of the site (unless otherwise noted on special occasions). Voters will not publicly endorse or critique any cover during the voting phase. Voting will end on the said date of the month.
13. The winner will receive an Amazon Voucher to the value of $15/€13/£11. Upon winning the challenge, you will receive a message asking which currency you prefer. (Unless prize stated differently in the HRC theme of that months competition.)
14. The entries will be automatically credited in the original artists name at the end of the challenge, so there is no need to personally re-upload your cover after the challenge is over. If you have your own HiRes gallery, you may want to move the cover to your gallery after the competition.
15. Admin reserves the right to withdraw challenge entries, and/or disqualify anyone for breaching the rules.
16. The challenge award announcement thread should be treated in the same way as a showcase thread. Therefore please avoid critiquing any of the entrants. If an entrant would like to improve on their work, they should post it in WIP where critique is welcomed. If you find an error with a cover, please PM the artist. If you do not receive a response from the artist, then please PM an administrator or moderator.
17. Creating new (or using existing accounts) to vote for your own entry will result in your submissions being removed from the contest.
