With my last experience in the showcase, with all those very kind advices, I wanted to come to this section more often, like our JRR...
So here is this title, for a request. I don't know how to fill the void on the back.
Screenies of course and a nice well-structured background image would certainly be the all-purpose solution, but I would like to try something else.
I have an idea in mind for the screenies, but I wanted to submit this to you first.
And of course, I still have to put the names and a tagline on the front.
So what do you think?
And of course, thanx a million times...

Somehow I feel addressed now
I'll try to help a little, but I have to say right away that I don't know the movie. This makes the whole thing more difficult for me.
I like the start so far.
I found a picture of the movie Movie Picture and the power cables are perfect for creating your own cover artwork.
What you think about something like this: Example
or that: Example
or something like a net of lights? Example
Caution: I don´t know, if something really fits for the movie!
Is it intentional that you only use shades of gray and no shades of black? It's not a problem, but the white text is more legible against a darker background.
In the spine, I would place the title higher. Why not center it? Then you'll have space at the bottom for an additional image or effect, if you want.
I'm also not sure whether the line spacing in the content text and maybe the credits isn't a bit too large.
I can't write much about it, but I'm definitely curious to see what happens next.

My initial impressions are:
The credit block should be taller and less space between lines, that would eat up some vacant room you have on the back. The top right of the back screams for a big barcode, but I'm a lover of the retail look so it might not be the way to go for yourself. I also think the spine title needs to go up a lot more and I am struggling with the size of the title on the front going across the ear and mouth of the character.
However where you are is a good start, but I am not aware of the film so I'm not able to give you a feel for placement to reflect the story.
Hope it helps.

I think it is a really nice start, and there are some great ideas from the guys above. I am not sure how I would fill the space you have, other than a row of screens with a larger image in the top right of the back. As for the white text, how does it look being dark grey?

Honestly, for something like this id just go with retail art on the front. i would just remove all text except title and cast.
Then match the back in terms of color tones. This still could work great at the top if you extend the sky, then you'd have lots of space
for a tagline and synopsis, maybe even add the sundance logo (this was a sundance entry).
just my 02
edit: btw. before i looked up the title, i was wondering why he has christmas lights on his head

Not much to add, but I would not extend the front image (cables) on to the spine. Not sure about the synopsis box either. I would use the texture on the back for the bottom part and maybe SF's and stills, but would add something else on the top part, to make the synopsis easier to read and maybe use some poster art or something.

Nice start Rip. The only thing that bothered me was what Speed mentioned about extending the front image on to the spine. I'm looking forward to see the evolution of this one. Good luck.

Minor changes, but changes nonetheless, following your recommendations, boys and girls.
I'll try to finish it tomorrow.
My daughter decided to change to a double bed in her bedroom, bought everything (with me at Ikea) 3 days ago, so everything has to be put together.
Not to mention painting the walls.
And of course, she doesn't know how to do any of that, so guess who's going to do it...
The joys of being a parent...

Wow, you are so lucky getting to do all those fun tasks rip

. Btw, the update looks great, very nicely done with the wires on the spine, looks much better now imo. I also think the back looks a lot better and will fit a lot better with the updated texture
