I took the family to an RAF airshow today, and thought I would share a few pics with you all. It was an amazing show, but unfortunately the weather was overcast.

My personal favourite show was the Red Arrows. They are breath taking to watch, and amazing at what they do.

So close.....

Then we have my favourite current serving aircraft (I think they are actually serving now?) The Euro Fighter Typhon. Part of his display, he approached the crowd at 500 mph, then lifted the noise and within seconds slowed to 70mph, and cruised over.

My favourite chopper, the Apache AH-64, and the Lynx. This was quite funny, as they guy commentating the show, was talking about how robust the Apache is, and it is the most reliable helicopter in the world. But as he went off with the Lynx, to circle around and come back, he never returned. He had to put down in a field, as he had a small fire on board. So, he missed giving us a display, and left the Lynx to show us some stunts, like barrel roles. By the time the Apache returned, their share of the show was over, so he decided to shoot off a couple of missiles :P

And here is a couple of my favourite old school planes. The Spitfire, Lancaster bomber, and hurricane. Simply awesome.

And then I found a really big bomb :D

The Red Arrows are the best. Great pics Baz.

Is it right that there is only one Lancaster bomber still operational? I heard it somewhere, but cant remember where. So I could be wrong.

:)
It has been a long time. Still two years to go.
Have been away a long time and still time to do.....

They only have one left operational in the UK, and one in Canada. It's a real shame too, it's a beautiful plane.

Great stuff Baz. Thanks for sharing. My future brother-in-law just graduated from West Point (US Army Military Acedemy) and has choosen aviation as his branch. He said he'll either be flying the Apache or the Little bird (the small helicopters in Blackhawk Down that did the striffing of the city buildings at night)

I'd love to have a go in an Apache. But it is amazing what these little birds do to. Who'd have thought a helicopter could fly upside down? It's crazy!
