Enhance stubble and other details

Another quick tip and easy way to enhance details, is to use the Sharpen Tool on a separate layer.

Create a new layer above your image, and name it something like Sharpen

Select the Sharpen Tool, change Strength to 50% or less and tick Sample All Layers

With your Sharpen layer selected, brush in over details such as stubble/a beard. In this example I have used it on his beard, eyes, eyebrows and scars.
