Sometimes if the background has one main primary color like a star field you can add a little glow with a sample of the main bg color around the text to obscure the stars and make the text more readable.

I have used this on other backgrounds as well, it won't work with everything of course but where it does work it's pretty useful.

Good suggestion, Curt! :cheers:
Using your same strategy, in some cases a thin Stroke also works well at unobtrusively simplifying the area around text.
