I am a bit late to start watching Vikings, but I started it a few weeks ago. And wow, I am completely hooked! I am on season 5 already, and I don't want it to end.

Now, I am a big Game of Thrones fan. Except for the last season, it is in my top 10 of TV shows. However now I am on season 5 of Vikings, I have decided that Vikings is much better than GOT. Despite Vikings having a much lower budget, the story and characters are so much stronger. It is also an emotional roller-coaster, and has some uncomfortable viewing.

Am I alone here? Has anyone else watched both great series, but can agree that Vikings trumps Game of Thrones?

I started watching GoT but turned off after 3 episodes, I had no idea what was going on or who the characters were, didn’t really get introduced to everyone.

Vikings I’ve yet to watch but heard good things about it.

I've been a GOT fan since the beginning, didn't care for the ending but I rarely do on any show.

I watched the first season of Vikings and thought it was great, by early in the second I had lost interest and have not seen any of it after that.

Black Sails same way great first season then all downhill from there, they managed four seasons before it ended but I can't imagine how.

Sauron/MM, you really should give it a try :)

CT, I read lot's about Vikings only keeping people interest for the first two seasons, so I was expecting to get bored. But I am still hooked :) I have never tried Black Sails.

Although I'm a history freak and have not yet seen the much criticized last season of GoT, I like GoT a liitle bit better. But that is also because the distances between the radiations of the Viking squadrons were very far apart and the suspense for me something lost (I've seen the series on Amazon Prime).

However, I think that you can not really compare the two series. While Vikings follows closely on real people and historical events, GoT is a pure fantasy drama that is mostly about nothing but intrigue, murder and power.

I’ve tried for 3 episodes lol

I quite liked Black Sails but it did go downhill after a few seasons but still worth a watch.

Just started watching GoT with my girlfriend, I think we've seen two or three episodes so far. So far it's pretty okay, but I'm not completely hooked like most (at least not yet). I'll Probably watch Vikings at some point, but there's so many other shows I wanna watch so not sure when.
I also really liked Black Sails. I agree that the first season was probably the best one, but that's how it is with most shows I guess, still a great show tho.

I was the same way speed, I watched maybe three episodes and hung it up.

Then my brother, who was a fan from the start of the show said, "you need to watch the whole first season" so I did, as he and I often like the same things, after that I was hooked...

:)

Yeah, you will be hooked on GoT once you have watched season one. It is an incredibly good program.
