djsvb20 has requested promotion to the Contributor's group. Does anyone know of any reason that they should not be promoted? I.e if you know the artwork does not belong to them?

Are these labels?

For me they are just poster slapping with a title. No other info included

I think that we have to change the conditions to apply as contributor.... as discused in the last 2 or 3 posts of the same section.

will vote later.

cheers!

Although these are posters with a title added onto them as Jazzy pointed out, I still feel these do have a purpose and can help fill some label we may not have in the gallery, I think the labels need to be checked carefully as pointed out by BajeeZa though.

So I will say Yes but needs to know that he needs to check they fit the disk.

Valid points guys. I think we should go through the gallery, and reject the ones that are not fit for purpose, because of center holes and outside borders. We can then see how many eligible labels are left. Agreed?

Jazzy, this is kind of an updated way of doing things. Contributors will gain access if they are the required amount of images already approved. If they are in the gallery, then they qualify. But by creating these threads, problems that have been missed (such as bajeeza pointed out) can be addressed.

I don't disagree with sauron's point but the issue I see with poster labels is how many with the "same" poster do we need, in order to say that need has been met?

First few I looked at were already in the gallery made by others, while these are slightly different I'm not sure they are "needed"...

I think Labels have become a terribly easy way to get free access here for months that can be done in a one day really and it's being exploited regularly now, how many have applied for contributor status of late that are not just tossing up a bunch of quick labels all posted in a short period of time?

And of those approved how many have actually contributed anything much at all since being upgraded?

I know in two cases I looked at recently it was nil, in other words are we really helping the site by making it so easy to get free access for months with just a few labels in the gallery?

That's a fair point C but how can we put rules in place for people to only create labels with either different posters or different layouts/arangements?

We might add a minimum standard, a uploaded label must have some logos (media type, studio, DTS etc.) and legals. Only for example.

Or new contributors must upload a minimum of covers, not only labels which are done in 20 minutes or less (in behaviour of Curt's post).

We are only talking about those "submitted to gain" contributor status.

It's easy, in the rules for Prove Yourself you state that labels made from posters that are already in the gallery will not count as credit for contributor status and that all labels submitted to become a contributor must be unique (in our opinion), it's really not that hard.

We disallow sets of labels from counting as more than one, it truth this is the same thing really.

It's what I said in the last thread, there needs to be some points for which to deny new members beyond just meeting number requirements as that is a poor measuring stick on labels IMO.

I would suggest adding at least these as rules.

1. All label submissions for contributor status must be unique (in our opinion) ie no similar versions in the gallery already.

2. Must be a active member making regular contributions over last three(3) months to apply for contributor status.

3. Must have had no gallery rejects in the last 30 days.

;)
