Hey guys

I am working on a cover for Independence Day Resurgent, to match my old ID4 cover. Here is where I am so far, but I could do with some help. Can anybody point me in the right direction to resources/tutorials to make the light beam look like the one from the movie?

I want to make a beam similar to this:

Great start! I honestly prefer your light beam version but you can enlarge yours to get a similar result.

With imo. Shouldn't the light be also reflected on these points?

I agree with Ark, I do prefer your version but if you want to make it look more like the original, I would say you could create a rectangle, add a blur to it so the edges blur and then try and find a nebula brush and reduce the opacity of it?

Don't hold me to it as just thinking from the top of my head so may not work.

Thanks guys.

Arkflip, I haven't finished with the lighting etc yet :)

Sauron, I am not trying to recreate, more make it fit the movie more than what it was. I did make it look like the original, using a gradient fill (0% opacity to 100% to 0%) but I didn't like it :p
