Entries are now in. See next post

Sorry I have not yet posted the entries. We have been let down by two people. One has said they are trying to get their entry to me ASAP. I will give them until later today, and post the entries anyway.

Unfortunately we have had two no shows and they are both opponents of each other. This means we have to continue with 3 pairs to go through to the semi-final.

The pair that did not finish are MovieM0nster and easylife. I am not sure what the best way to proceed from here is, so if you have any suggestions please let me know.

Meanwhile, here are the scorecards for you to begin voting.

Thanks guys, and good luck!

Perhaps the highest-scoring non-winner from this round can take that open slot?

The only other recourse that comes to mind would be for the winner of xshoty/Jazzy to automatically advance to the final.

I am not sure the highest non scoring winner would be fair on the others.

I too was thinking of automatically advancing. It seems the fairest thing to do to me?

You're right. After looking at the covers more closely, I expect that all of the designers eliminated during this round will have deserved to be eliminated. It can be tough to muster your enthusiasm when designing during the middle stretch of a competition, but, from first to last, everyone took their foot off the pedal.

Anyway, as you said, it makes sense to just give the winner of that first pair a free pass next round (unless for some reason he wants to design an extra one).

It's a shame neither MovieM0nster nor easylife submitted a cover. That likely would've been the most interesting match up. MovieM0nster in particular seemed very much a legitimate contender to win the whole thing.

Maybe it's me, but this lineup felt disappointing overall. Hopefully next round and then the final round will be a legitimate clash of the titans. Here's my card:

Thanks for getting the scores done so quick Tim. You are right, EL and MM would have been a great contest.

Just a FYI, as you may want to revise your comments on the Zootopia cover. The person that made this cover originally sent in a cover that didn't qualify (it did not fall into the Animation/Sci-Fi theme). I only realised a few days ago, and they made this new cover in a day. So yes, they were rushed into making it, but I was impressed they managed to come up with something so quick.

I also have to disagree with you about the line up. I think there are some really impressive covers in the mix!
