HiResCovers League
Anyone can join in the HiResCovers league, for their chance to win a €25 Amazon Voucher. The first round will be to whittle down the entrants to 8 people. You may enter any DVD or Bluray cover you like (but must be a new creation), and HiRes members will vote for their top 8 covers. After round one, the top 8 entrants will find it a little more challenging. A choice of two themes per round will be introduced, and a panel of four judges will judge the entries. You will have four weeks to make a cover, and there will be one weeks judging. Entries must be sent to [email protected] with the subject HRC League, and must include your username. Failing to do so, may mean your entry not being included into the competition. Entries must be up to site standards, or will not be eligible.
Round 1: May 9th – June 5th
Anyone can enter any cover they like (one cover per member), to compete for a top 8 position. All entries will be judged by the members of the site, in the same way current competitions are voted for. You will have four weeks to design your cover, after which there will be voting for one week.
Voting: June 6th – June 12th
Round 2: June 13th – July 10th
The top 8 entries will move to the knock out stages. The cover with the highest amount of votes (1st) will then compete against the cover with the least amount of votes (8th). 2nd will compete with 7th, 3rd and 6th and 4th and 5th against each other. They will be given a choice of two themes to design a cover for. They will have four weeks to design and submit their entries, but this round will be judged by a select panel of judges. Judges will have one week to score their entries.
Voting: July 11th – July 17th
Round 3: July 18th – August 14th
The winner from each pair will move onto round 3. The winner from 1st and 8th will go up against the winner from 4th and 5th. While the winner from 3rd and 6th will compete against the 2nd and 7th winner. They will be given a choice of two themes to design a cover for. They will have four weeks to design and submit their entries. This round will again be judged by the select panel of judges.
Voting: August 15th – August 21st
Round 4 (Final): August 22nd - September 18th
The last two entrants will now compete. Again they will have a choice of two themes and a month to submit their entries. Judges will have one week to decide their winner.
Voting: September 19th – September 25th
Judges:
There will be four judges for the advanced rounds (Bunny Dojo/JollyRoger/Kernie/Paris). Entries will be judged on:
Originality: How unique is the cover? Is the design original, or has it used elements that have previously been used on cover or poster art?
Quality: How good are the images used, or if old images how well they have been 'fixed'. Are the logos and texts high quality? How is the quality of cloning and/or masking and are colours consistent?
Skill: How high is the level of skills shown in the design to get the end result? Is it custom art or copy and paste background/poster art? Have filters been used to get the end result (such as Topaz) or has it been made using standard Photoshop tools?
Suitability: Does the overall feel of the cover showcase the movie well?
Themes: To be announced at the start of each round

• Covers must be original creations, and not have been uploaded anywhere before.
• Covers must not be made using any WIP or help from other artists. They must be your own work.
• You may only enter one cover.
• Entries must conform to site standards. If it wouldn't get through approvals, it will not be accepted into the competition.
• Entries must be a valid title available on DVD or Bluray, and listed on IMDB.
• Entries must not have any identifying marks, such as member names or personal websites.
• Your full-size cover must be submitted by the specified dates at 00:00 GMT. To clarify, 00:00 GMT is the beginning of the said date, not the end of the said date.
• All entries should be emailed to [email protected], with your member name clearly stated in the body of the email message. Failing to do so may result in your entry not being included in the competition
• Administration reserves the right to disqualify any entry at any time, if it is believed they have broken any of these rules.
