I started putting together this keyart for my Comic Collection version of Civil War, but feel that it might be worth also doing as a standalone cover (or possibly covers for the whole trilogy). It looks good in the template, but I also really like how the image stands on its own.

My struggle now is how to approach turning this into a standalone cover that isn't too derivative of my comic covers, my Avengers covers, or another designer's work. It also makes it difficult to make a unique yet consistent design across all three films, as they are tonally so different. First Avenger is a WW2 period film, Winter Soldier is a 70's spy thriller, and Civil War looks to be basically an Avengers film.

Where I need some help is inspiration and direction. If members would be so kind as to post examples of back/spine layouts or designs that might compliment this keyart, that would be most appreciated. I have some ideas of my own, but would love any feedback or suggestions before proceeding further.

Thanks! :D :D :D

That's lookin really awesome!!

I think you've choosen a very different way, I really don't have a good idea what to do around them.
Maybe play around with Cap's shield? If I'm right that's something they've done on one of these artworks as well?

And when i decide to do a boring cover, you show us this awesome piece of art! Magnificent Kernie! It's incredible how good and talented you are as a designer!

I'm gonna search for some possible layouts that can work with this.

Wow this is great Kernie! Would be cool to see an animated GIF of the artwork all coming together?

First of all, thank you everyone for such a warm response to this keyart. I like it a lot too and want to find a way to utilize it without covering so much of it within my Comic Collection template.

You mean like this?

Unfortunately, it's not a true representation of my progress. I made this by going back and turning off layers and adjustments to give a sense of what I did. One thing it doesn't show is my struggle with the arrangement of characters. In the interest of full disclosure, I did draw a lot of inspiration from the promo art (below) but wanted to give a bit more pizzazz! I hope that I've added enough of my own flourishes to not feel too much like a rip off. :D

I can't tell if you're joking... but the point of the film is that they are fighting brother against brother in a "civil war." :D

With the GIF i do admit your technique is awesome ! i love it ! The only thing bugged me is your background maybe it's just me or because the preview quality is not on top but the background look in poor quality. What about added some shadow on the right side of Iron man buddy a bit like Captain america on his left side !

Can't wait to see the evolution of this one m8 !
