Ok. I've finished with this one...Went for a very simple style...Not doing nothing just adding a spine and covering it with some filter effects. On the back I used a couple...As it came along....

What do you think?

I am guessing you will be removing all the white bits on the back and adding a synopsis etc?

What's the quality of the front image like? Is it just the effects you've added that make it lower resolution?

No. The white bits are intentional. No. No sunopsis. Just this. Why the need of a synopsis? Everyone whi doesnt know the film has internet....
Call it like a steelbook style. Nothing on the back except and image.

To respond to Sauron, yes it was the effect that give it that look.

No likey?

Ah right okay, well I would definitely remove the white bits as it looks like it hasn't been cut out probably which you can see from the white bits on their hair.

Personally I feel that the cover needs a lot more than just these two characters, all I get from this cover is that there's two people in the film with one being older than the other, possibly brothers?

Honestly I think you need to start slowly with covers, post little updates in the W.I.P for people like myself to give feedback on (some of it you may not agree with but it's great getting another pair of eyes on the work you have spent hours staring at) and maybe try out some of that feedback, doing it this way you will not only learn new things but also create a better cover. Trust me I've been through this process, as have many others designers here - take a look at my X-Men: Wolverine cover... That wouldn't look like it does without the help of everyone here.

You mean like this:

Sorry I'm failing to see the parallel there, your design has no cohesion, it just looks like some images thrown in a template, sorry but it's not good, not even for a minimal cover.
