Discuss what you like in here. But try and keep it reasonably civilised!

i am just about to upload a region 2 cover for true lies.
i was really pissed off when i watched it.it's cut by 5 mins - why? the offensive scenes are when arnie smashes the car salesman in the face, and parts of the fight scene with the 2 terrorists in the toilets(such as where he hits ones head into the urinal)
it's cut simply because its violence.
i can't count how many times i've been pissed of when i see a film on dvd, that's cut from it's original form.that's one of the reasons i buy so many region 1 releases.
any sort of cut annoys me.who are the board to decide what i can and cant see?i'm over 18 and responsible.it's classed as a 15 with the cuts, but why is it cut when i see lots of horrors now classed as 15 with alot worse content.one that spring to mind is house of wax,off the top of my head ..a finger gets cut off/someone is covered with boiling wax/an achilles tendon is cut/and paris gets speared by a long weapon on film(not for the first time)
its the age old excuse of giving people ideas that they might act out..NEWSFLASH if someones going to do that then they're mentally disturbed to start with, and are just as likely to be set off by anything.using something they have seen in a film is just a poor excuse for the defence.
IMO the best thing to do is leave films in there original theatrical cut,and increase the age restriction back up to 18....but then that wont happen because it's about making the most money from a dvd release.
Sorry for my English, i'm from Leicester innit?

censoring ANY sexual scenes is sacrilige!!

Can I get an AMEN? Everything is so sexually oriented today. As far as the violence goes, I can't believe that the old Looney Tunes cartoons are hardly shown because they are "too violent". Everything is too politically correct nowadays, and that is what pisses me off!

I think the released movies in England and Germany are very hard monitored
by the "Censorship institutions" (BBFC in the UK and FSK for Germany).

A few years ago there where so many cuts in all type of movies. Most of all
violence and gore was censored. Back in the 80s movies where banned because
of the "violent" nature! Nudity and sexual content never was a big problem in Germany.

One of the best examples is Tobe Hoopers "Texas Chainsaw Massacre".
This movie is one of the best movies I have ever seen and it is exposed
in the Museum of Modern Arts as an artwork but still banned in Germany?!? eek5.gif

Meanwhile the censorship istn't as bad as it was (movies like "The Hills have eyes"-Remake
are passing the classification uncut). So there is still hope left, that one day no more
censorship will occur on any movie, book or whatever.

What makes me often very confused is the disposal of censoring. True Lies was released
uncut in Germay and was rated comparable to BBFC 15, Steven Seagals "Above the Law"
f.e. was cut in Germany and was releasend uncut in the UK. chin.gif

Thinking about this gives me a headache... cussing.gif

Bye for now and f SHOCKED.gif k censorship! 8824.gif

if anybody is interested, here is a very good german "censorship-site".
the site is in german but the pictures show everything interesting...

what makes me laugh chl is that they say that the looney tunes are too violent...have you seen the kids programmes that are out now? they are disgusting...violent and sometimes just downright wrong..

cow and chicken
ren and stimpy

I'm not saying their not funny...but how can you say looney tunes is violent after kids watch these sorts of cartoons?

lol.gif Ren and Stimpy is a classic. It was actually meant to be more adult but they toned it down for a kid's cartoon. Then when it was brought back for a little while they made them more adult. Like them deciding who was the catcher and pitcher...cracks me up.

Anyway i was just reading an article about Alan Moore. There is a set of books coming out that he's worked on for years called "lost girls".Its a reimagining of stories like alice in wonderland and peter pan. If there is a book that would make a censor's head explode its this one. The stories are very adult and extremely graphic from what i've read. Some critic said it was essentially porn. eek5.gif lol.gif
