The quickest PS colour guide in the world
Firstly select the highest layer in your layers window, above what you want coloured. Create a new adjustment layer, and select Photo Filter.

Set the desired colour, and slide the density to 100%. Make sure Preserve Luminosity is checked.

Adding an adjustment layer, also adds a layer mask (4) This gives you excellent control over the heaviness of the colour added. Select your brush tool (1) making sure the foreground colour is black (2). Lower the opacity (3) so you can build up the mask. Make sure the mask is selected in the layer window (4) and now brush on your cover, the parts you don't want coloured. In this example, I coloured in the titles and Bruce.

And voila! You have a colour coded cover
Hopefully!
