The problem is, people seem to be trying to make up for lost time, by downloading all they can. Aswell as the amazing amount of memebrs uploading, and new memebrs joining, it's knocking the server over. It is being looked at, so hopefully wont be too long before it will be resolved.

thanks for your understanding and your patience.

Now is a good time for me to jump in and shed some light onto things :-)

I own the company that is hosting highrescovers.net. The site is placed on a good spec server that will be able to handle 'normal' day to day use of this site.

Yesterday over 24,000 members were sent an email saying 'we are open', today those same people have been signing up to the new site at a rate of approx. 1 every 10 seconds.

That, coupled with everybody else using the forums and galleries, is putting quite a strain on the server. Bazza is working very closely with me to look at ways to resolve the server load issue - in turn, our own technical people are also working to keep the server going.

Many people are downloading (and uploading) like mad - this will not help matters. The site isn't going anywhere so for the next few days please be considerate and take it easy ;-)

So far we have optomised the server to give the gallery what it requires. Now we are installing compression and caching to make the gallery less resource intensive. This all takes time and could not be done without allowing you to 'hammer' the server for us, so no forward planning was possible.

Thanks for your understanding in this matter, I hope i have cleared a few things up for you all. Here's wishing hirescovers.net all the best for her new future, and may we be there to help the admins and all who sail in her :-)
