So, I'm trying something a bit different and somewhat challenging with this series...

Rather than establishing a template like my Comic Book Collection, in which I'm systematically switching out elements that are appropriate for one title with elements for another... I'm going to try to do a series that feels similar and consistent in its design, without being incredibly slavish to a particular template.

What I mean by that is, Brave should feel like it belongs in the same collection with The Incredibles, without the templates necessarily matching each other. I am aiming for each cover to have its own unique style and to reflect the themes of each individual film, while trying to maintain some basic layout and styles that fit the entire series.

In a nutshell, they should be like members of a family: all of them sharing some basic traits in common, but each one has its own individual qualities and "personality" as well.

So, if all that rambling makes any sense at all... here's where I'm going with the next title: Brave! (With a side-by-side comparison to the Incredibles to show how I'm trying to keep the similar-yet-different approach.)

I should also mention that this is a collection that I expect to span a number of months and one that I don't see being completed very quickly. Mainly because I want to take my time and carefully finesse each cover to make sure they are as good as they can be. (Sometimes I feel I rushed through many of Comic Book Collection covers just to get them done because the list of titles was so long and growing by the week. But since there are only about a dozen Pixar films at the moment, I do want to spend a bit more time with them).

Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions? Insults?

:D :D :D

I really like the TT and the layout, but the treatment to Merida looks too sharp. The filters have left black lines around her eyebrows giving the effect of make-up. I'm just not sure if a comic filter is right for the movie, or perhaps I am just used to the soft-detailed retails. :)

I'll try to tone it down a bit, but I kind of want to keep the filter in use somehow, since I already used it on the Incredibles. I actually think the retail images are too soft and too artificial/computery... just too darn clean. I like the sketch filter because it gives a bit of a hand-drawn quality.

What do others think??

Slight update...

- Reduced Sketch filter on Merida, thus lessening sharpness but still providing the desired "handdrawn" effect
- Enlarged and slightly repositioned Merida
- Added banner on bottom, changing Incredibles' "1st Issue" to Dunbroch crest and ripped paper strip to Celtic scroll
- Brighted TT slightly
