perhaps tone down the red on the characters and move the TT up and away from them?

What Jakob said! I think it's a good concept but i'd try the words without the stroke, less red and perhaps a more realistic tone on them.

Hmm... When creating a cover for a western, I admit the first instinct is to add a leather/overlay. However, I agree with the above comments on realistic tones. Keep it up

Ark. Did try the TT without stroke, like it better with! and I'll think it suits a western cover very well, son I'm going to keep it for now. The other stuff I'm going to work on. Thanks guys

Hmm... Don't think your last attempt works bud. Something between the first one and the last perhaps, or use the last one but with a moody sky instead of the leather. And I have to agree about the stroke, think it would look better without.
