Cover Thieves

Not sure if this is the place to post this, but I want this available for all to see. I've been noticing my work popping up on R1DB.com by an unknown person who fails to credit the designer. I try not to worry about this, since it's the internet, and I know that dishonesty and theft are difficult to completely monitor. I also tell myself not to get upset, because it just means that more people can see my designs.

However, I made a decision a long time ago to stay exclusive to hirescovers.net, so if you see my stuff elsewhere, I didn't put it there and it is stolen from here. I've tried to place notes in the descriptions for my designs about not uploading my stuff to other sites, but I guess some people could care less about what I want. If you are going to steal my stuff (which I'd rather you don't), could at least give me the credit? I still don't approve, but at least you're giving me some shred of respect.

I know it's hard to sniff out the culprit, but if this trend continues, I'll delete my entire gallery here. I've had very little time for this hobby lately and to be honest, wiping the slate clean and throwing in the towel would leave me with a lot more free time to spend on other things in my life. I'd rather not do this, but if it comes down to it, it's what I'll have to do.

the reason the uploader is unknown is because thats R1DB Modus Operandi.

they did the same on CM, a staff member joins under a false name then strips covers and uploads them them to R1, all the uploaders will be by an unknown member with the designer unknown, you can claim them but R1 wont remove them

R1 is a failing site and it seems they feel the only way to compete is by stealing covers

Luckily we have a good relationship with r1db. I'm sure if you PM Demonology, He can fix things for you.

Quitting cover making because of a few bad apples, seems a bit foolish to me. Taking a break to do other things is a bit more logical. Covers aren't exactly the most important thing in life. Would be sad if you stopped.

Honestly Kernie I would really hope you wouldn't throw in the towel , the main reason I joined this site was because of your stuff and the main reason I started creating stuff was because of you.

I joined r1db because someone else was posting my stuff there as well. Now that people are aware of your stuff I don't think it will happen again, but I can't say for sure because I thought i had this problem resolved and it turns out another label popped up on that site.

I spent at least 2 hrs going through their gallery's and finding labels and covers from here and DVDFuzion. I made sure that all the creators were given credit, I messaged Fubster and Bazzah and Batsboysmith regarding this and the admin on r1db.

The best thing I can promise is to keep my eye for all the designers on here and at fuzion, I myself am not exclusive to this site but there are a few things from here I haven't posted anywhere else, one of the easiest ways to tell is that there's no creator listed for these covers.

I see that a bunch of my stuff is there too... And see wysmommy's too!

And many were just uploaded yesterday!

It especially bugs me because I have paid for credits there... so I am essentially supporting a site that uses my covers without permission

EDIT: I bet a mod could figure out who it is here by comparing the downloaded work of say mom and myself to the ones uploaded there yesterday, and pick out the one member that is doing it!

Yup I just went thru the recent uploads over there and most have no names..and they're in groups of like 5-8 covers per movie..Hope the guy gets caught.

if anyone wants credit for their stolen covers pm me with a list and the best I can do is make sure everyone gets their credit for making these covers. one of the admin asked to me to do this.

We always do our best to source these people out, but it is not a straight forward process. I will be looking into this, and updating you all with any information I can find. If anyone feels like being helpful, they could give the name of any known stolen covers, along with the date (and time if available) they were uploaded, and any uploaders names, as well as the original creators name.

I want to let a staff member reply here before we start trying to take action, just to make sure we aren't stepping on any toes!

Maybe Fubster can give us some info if he has any.
