Awesome work on the african dude! Perhaps you could add some more grain as 'floor' so he looks like he's actually standing on something?
Perhaps make the tagline smaller too?
Never seen the film, so advise is given purely from an artistic point of view...

Cool stuff! I wonder if that tagline will grow on me though...I keep thinking Brokeback Mountain

Looks great, maybe looks to float a bit too much atm, but will see how it evolve.
@JR you must watch this move fast (Even if you don't like it after you've seen it, I think this is one everyone should see)

Hahaha, I didn't even make the connection.

I always loved that line from the film, but I might rethink it since, combined with the style of the cover, it makes everything a bit too much like a soapy romance.
Here's a slight step forward from last night with the spine image, updated colors, car (which now I might remove...), and a bullet casing. I appreciate the comments so far, guys, and will try to improve the floor... now that you mention it, it does look a bit like he's floating.

I like it a lot
maybe you can have the car in front view as the pic you used for the road? then you can add lights to the car and the shadow will have a light source
