This made me laugh my socks off............OK, the Vancouver Winter Games, who came top of the leader board by the end of the closing ceremony..........???
Well, not Germany this time around, although they usually win the Winter Olympics.........this year, it was not to be!
and, It was not the Candians who managed to take more golds than any other country in the history of the games.............nope, not them!
It was the Americans or, at least thats what they told the rest of the world!!!
United States 9 15 13 37
Germany 10 13 7 30
Canada 14 7 5 26
Norway 9 8 6 23
Austria 4 6 6 16
Where every other nation in the world had the Canadians in 1st place and the Germans in 2nd followed by USA in 3rd........the Americans elected themselves first because ............wait for it!!!!!............they based it on the NUMBER OF MEDALS they won......
so, I guess Golds don't mean much anymore.......yeah! right.
When I was there it was all they were talking about!!!!

ok, umi. I can go with what you've said, golds are best as we all know, but from the US perspective, all Olympic Games have aways been decided by total medals won, at least that's how the us media has always carried it. I have never missed an olympic's and can't ever say I ever heard of number of golds won being the deciding factor, again, not that I disagree, just it's always been that way from the us sportcasters perspective.

I dont agree with that, How can any one country WIN the olympics, I thought it was supposed to be about the spirit of competition, bringing the world together to compete.
It actually really p155ed me off during the opening Ceremonies, the guy doing Commentary for the Canadian TV Station made a comment about the Irish "Not expected to Win ANY MEDALS here this Year" Well if they aren't expected to win Just dont show up?
Dont get me wrong, I'm stoked Canada did so well Gold wise, but i find the US tries very hard to skew what happens in thier favour, they ALWAYS have to win.
