Hey everyone!
Here is a little competition designed to stretch your artistic thought processes.
We are asking you to design a wholly original DVD/Blu-Ray cover without the use of Poster Art………Have you got what it takes?. Yes, of course you have, so come and join us in this Unique Cover Design Competition which is open to ALL-COMERS!
As this is the first ever competition of its type you will be allowed to choose your own movie genre topic. Horror, Drama, War, Thriller, Action, Comedy and Science Fiction, your choice is limitless.
And, yes there is a great prize lined up for the winner!…........Any single release, Blu-Ray/DVD title of his/her choosing from Amazon.com. In addition, the winner will also receive 10 Amaray Blu-Ray Cases.
The Rules are simple too……
1. The front of your cover must be produced using your own conceptual art and design ideas without the assistance of POSTER ART in any way, shape or form!
2. You may use "still" images for the back part of your cover design only.
3. You may use unrelated photographic imagery.
4. You may use original Titles/Title Treatments/Fonts etc.
5. You may use any tool, plug-in or method provided within your software.
6. You may use multiple-software.
7. You may use Vector Designs [as long as they do not form any part of the original poster art].
8. The title of your cover must be locatable at IMDB.
9. You may submit as many cover designs as you like.
10. There will be only one winner [decided by a member’s poll].

I think that is the same as rule #3. You may use unrelated photographic imagery.
This looks like it will produce some interesting covers...I cannot wait to see what everyone comes up with
Try to use your imagination a little for the front, you don't always need stock art. For example, I designed a cover for Valkyrie using no pictures at all for the front, just a couple of simple designs. There are lots of covers out there like this. To give you an idea, if it is a religious movie, design the front around a crucifix! The possibilities are endless
