Agree with every word said above by K. I don't see how this can ruin the competition... we can't forget that 3 members were selected to represent a site, and with that in mind why can't them share designs and get feedback if they are representing the same site?

This competition was created to get site vs site vs site right? It's not one designer vs another one vs another one...

I'm not representing any site this year but i was at BR1 and i know that i got some great help from the guys on my team and didn't won but it was funny and that's the main point of this: have fun creating a cover to represent the site that selected you! Don't wast your time with peanuts :)

Feeling guilty that you helped or asked for help from someone, accusing people of cheating, or being afraid to ask for help... there's no benefit in any side of that.

I saw the Private Discussion thread pop up on here, I expect at least one person is going to need English translation help on another site, and plenty of other competitors are going to PM each other, even if it's only to ask, "Did you submit your design yet?" Let's avoid a witch hunt, open the rule and put people on equal footing.

It is very much intended as an individual competition, though. And, in regard to asking other competitors about something, you can ask any competitor, not just someone from your own represented site.

Fair enough. This is your competition and I will abide by your decision. However, I would like to point out that I never accused anyone of cheating. I simply offered my opinion based on the fact that this is supposed to be an individual competition. Which you yourself, mentioned in Post #82 that you would strongly prefer that we keep the design process entirely our own. Then again, I guess that is neither here nor there anymore.

I personally will not be sharing my design with any other competitor. Then again, I just finished my cover today. Has anyone else turned there cover in yet, or should we wait until closer to the deadline?

Perhaps next year if you decide to continue the BR tradition you might consider a site collaboration comp instead? 2-3 designers and 1 cover per site.

I wasn't trying to use anyone as an example, especially not you. You offered up a sensible opinion. :)

And I appreciate everyone who opts to keep their process as individualized as possible on this particular challenge.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - -

With that said, rather than risking someone saying a victory is tainted, the most sensible thing is to adjust the rule.

Four sites of designers who aren't native English speakers can get spell check help. HiRes can have their thread where competitors offer each other harmless encouragement. Friends like xShoty and Skar can talk without worrying that one might bring up their entry and have the police barge in. ;)

No entries have been submitted yet. Submitted entries can be updated until the deadline. So, everyone has time to absorb this adjustment however they see fit. :)

If we all make it through this ( :D ), something pretty cool along those lines is planned soon after the Cover Site Battle Royal. :)

I have always seen the Battle Royale inter-site competition as a competition against sites, and not individuals. Each site is entered as a team, and therefore I do not see a problem with each site working as a team? But above all else, this is meant to be a bit of fun, and if I am not mistaken, a way of bringing our cover communities together? And Bunny put's a lot of time and effort into running this competition, and doing his best to keep everyone happy. Bunny now has access to the private thread, which was set up for the designers to discuss the Battle Royale. If we (as a site) were trying to be unfair in the competition, do you not think we would have hidden the thread?

Anyway, I am more than happy to close the thread if it is going to cause upset. This thread has already tainted a fun competition. Let's keep the Battle Royale something to look forward to each year, not something to argue over :)

HEAR HEAR.

Personally I know v and JR to be good guys, I count them as friends, I trust and respect them, same as el, wys, voetz, I mention them by name because it's true I do, along with others, but those guys and gal I've known since TCW started and they have always been more than good to me. (even if i could never get in the staff bathroom :D )

I have no issue about them, or designers from the other sites discussing their designs with each other and giving advice. Just my 2 cents, nothing more.
I haven't talked about mine with anyone, and I probably won't, but's just me and my choice, that's all. I've always been a bit of a loner.

I look forward to seeing all the great covers that come out and seeing how I can compete this year, not holding my breath but slightly hopefully I have improved over last year.

Thanks guys
