No offense meant RR, BD you're on the right track but you forgot one classic...Troll II.
Just got into Scott Pilgrim because the trailer looks so good, I enjoyed volume 1, can't wait for the movie, excellent cover. The Crow Stairway is a nice addition. The show, however; does not hold up at all!

Hey Kernie, what software are you using for these. I have a Photoshop X4, and still can't get it to work right. To all others I am not hijacking this thread. I love his work and it has cost me a couple of dollars money to go out and buy some of the DVD and Blu-ray just to use his covers.
Keep up the good covers and labels. As I say I wait with worm in mouth (baited breath) for each one of your covers.

But seriously, yes I am, and the cover is actually looking decent for the movie version.RRJR84 wrote:QUOTE (RRJR84 @ Aug 4 2010, 05:25 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I just got photo shop Cs5 and I downloaded a complete video tutorial on it so it will be a while before I really get going.
Holy $#!t dude. Nothing like diving in headfirst without your water-wings on, I'm only on CS3 (but that might change when I get my new MacBook Pro this week!). Best of luck, the leap from Paint to CS5 will be a big one.beric3236a wrote:QUOTE (beric3236a @ Aug 4 2010, 09:06 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Hey Kernie, what software are you using for these. In my honest opinion, if you're not using an Adobe product, you might as well just throw in the towel right now. There might be some designers who have worked around it and done some sweet stuff with Corel products or something similar, but Adobe's pretty much the industry standard.
What do you mean by "can't get it to work right?" Is the program buggy or is it the user? If it's the latter... google, video tutorials, and practice, practice, practice are the best ways to get around that. If it's the program, well, I'm not sure. I just drive cars, I don't know how to fix them...
As for what programs specifically... I use a blend of Photoshop CS3, Illustrator CS3, occasionally After Effects CS3, and even less occasionally Bryce, Poser, Blender or other 3D modeling programs. Illustrator works best for vectorizing title treatments and logos and such, while Photoshop is obviously the main bulk of what I use for raster/pixel-based artwork.
OOOOooooooOOOOOoooooo get you, Haha!
Nosy, hmmm yes, little no, 6' 1", bugger, definitely not
Oh, Save the cheerleader, save the world
Mmm yes I would like a complete collection, so please keep going I was only joking mate!!
I'm sure the live action film they made was an Epic, a legendary classic film
never seen it though
I remember seeing the cartoon, don't remember that much about it though
I'm only jesting with you you know, I look forward to seeing anything new that you release, and please don't take it to heart what I may say
-------------------------------
And I agree with you Photoshop and Illustrator are a must have, though I do use Fireworks as I find it easier so create vector graphics, but it's each to there own, plus I use Corel Paintshop Pro for certain things.
Adobe Photoshop is a powerful tool, if you can't get the hang of it, find tutorials, there are plenty on the web if you search, if you "still can't get it to work" then your the only one to blame as Kernie said throw in the towel now, because it you persist in using such (laughingly call them) tools such as MS Paint or what's the other one, oh yes GIMP, well you must be a (the name says it all).
If someone really wants to create any sort of artwork, use the best programs you can afford i.e. Adobe
I'll hand it back to Mr. Grumpy now (you know who you are)

DS - give the Jcats movie a chance. I was dragged to it by a girl I liked back when it came out in theaters and actually found it to be tolerable and kind of funny. It's clearly aimed at teen girls, but Alan Cumming and Rosario Dawson help to save it a bit.
If you're implying I should include Heroes in the collection... sorry, but no. Not a comic book first. And considering the anti-climactic first season finale as well as the three craptastic seasons that followed it, I'm not too eager to make an exception.
I have another cover or two I'd like to finish and then I think I'm taking a break for a little while. If I receive one more PM from somebody telling me what comic book movies (or movies that weren't actually based on comic books) I forgot to add to this collection (got another one this morning), I might just stop making them altogether. Seriously, it's getting that annoying that I just might quit due to this ignorance and ingratitude. I'm getting very frustrated by the newbies here who don't understand how much time I've dedicated to this hobby and that I'm not here to serve orders...

As much as I wouldn't want you stop making stuff a break never hurt anyone, and it would give you a chance to recharge, relax watch some your collection, lol.
I would hope you would never quite I understand us newbies are pain in the a$$ by posting request or pm them to you or making suggestions or inceptions, etc. The only thing i'm going to ask of you as gotta understand where some of us are coming from I've searched the net long and are for great art work and got no where fast. I have a DVD collection of over 1500, (movies, cartoons,TV series etc.)
I'm a junkie when it comes to getting great art for my stuff and I'm hooked this is the best site I've seen in all my time doing this stuff. You've inspired my to pursue more deeply into making my own covers (mostly so that i stop being a pest and getting anxious  for stuff people aren't making.)
I've watched over 20 videos for CS5 and i truly realize the amount of work it takes to make your collection. Some people might just be making conversation or asking what seems to be harmless questions not realizing a whole lot. that's happened with over and over again. there are lots other spectacular art on this site and but when it comes to comic related your the Yoda master,
So I don't know what else to say about people requesting stuff from when we join there's nothing to say otherwise. Maybe the only solution is to post of your profile page that you would not like requests or suggestions sent you. Cause trust I value your work very, very much
. So maybe finish up any current projects if you time and take a load off.

I'll have to check the jcats movie out mate
And now I wasn't implying that that you should add Heroes to the collection, I was trying to be funny about your comment that's allkernie82 wrote:QUOTE (kernie82 @ Aug 5 2010, 06:34 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Remember... Please don't let the newbies get you down, if you have to, change your pm settings to just receive pm's from staff, (if thats possible) that way at least you'll stop the requests, and please don't quit, have a break I agree, but please don't quit, have a break from the comic book collection for a while, but keep your hand in with a few other covers for a change, it would be a total loss to the community, if we were to loose such an artist of your calibre.![]()
Please accept my sincere apologise if I have wound you up in any way

Found the problem with my program. It is what you might call a PEBCAK error
. I have just dove in to the program and hopefully with a whip and chain and a BFH (and a change of memory in my head) I might be able to make some progress. I agree with Darksaber. Please take a break, and take care of yourself. With all the excellent covers you have put out, you defiantly deserve one. We all love your work this much. :arms: and I do look forward to your covers and thank you very much for the ones I have used. They are all a hell of a site better than the store bought ones. This is just my 2cents.

Time for a rant, Kernie, sorry if you object to this, and if you do please take it down but n00bs are getting me down as well. I mean no disrespect to you, your talent or this forum, but something's got to get the hell off my chest!
o: NEWBIES LISTEN UP, IF YOU RUIN THIS FOR THE LONGTIME FANS I WILL PUT FOOT TO a$$ AND STAPLE BALLS TO WALLS! Kernie is kind enough to make THE BEST collection you'll EVER find online, to ask him to add to his collection is ridiculous look at the whole thing! I can't believe the disrespect to ask and complain about there not being a cover for things THAT AREN'T EVEN FRICKING ON DVD multiple times after he's spelled out NO FRICKIN REQUESTS! Come on n00bs knock of the crap, and for the sake of keeping your own balls not stapled to any walls and keeping my vans parked on my feet, KNOCK OF THE PMING FOR COVERS. I know Kernie is annoyed, well those of us that RESPECT the collection and LOVE the work, not just want them to complete something; would really like it to continue. So just BACK THE TRUCK UP and recognize the skill, talent, and GIVING NATURE of the best DVD Cover artist there is. Stop the shenanigans you're ruining the good times for everyone!
Kernie's too nice to say anything like that and he's been hinting that he's not keen on requests and the n00bs are as subtle as rhinos when it comes to requests, just please let the man breathe!
