Wow...

i've was offline when that thread appears, it's an amazing one,
i've always wonder when custom cover art begins (i know the answer is not there but it gives clues)...

anyway, i came to it also by accident, looking for label for my own personnal cds back in may 2006 (only) and found a french site, (RIP) World Covers and so the work of Fifilou and Bérou (i know that told you nothing but they were god to me at this time) the admin of the site was Lolotte and she's the one that gives me your address less than 3 months after i'd begin, then i'd understand that they were way better gods than the two i used to mention before... don't remember which cover or artist was the most amazing to me, i guess i've check hundreds of gallery pages... may be Dweez king Kong and Ace Of Spades Poseidon's...

at the beginning i've done only labels, then for fun i've rapidly turn into cover making, mostly because of the great mood between the people making cover in this site, something like 15 guys (that was quiet a lot for a french site), it was always friendly comp and i use to improve a lot during this time (but way far of HRC standard), i've also done covers to help people to have custom covers, most of the things i've done were on request... but the skill was not there (and still isn't)...

Kylumi is the one that use to boost it a bit, i don't remember how it comes but he learns me the basics and i'm really thankfull to him, especially cause i'm a bit "english" shy and many times not able to talk to somebody or ask for WIPs help, it was in mid 2007

i've done something like 250 covers since the beginning, something like 80% of them were made before 2008... since that time, my addiction had reduce due to personnal life but i cannot quit...

Why HRC? an amazing great talented and friendly community.... i regret not to have known it before

by the way, is there a way to see old covers, i mean before 2006? it was mentionned somewhere, why not open a Hall of Fame / Show Off gallery!! for people like me, quiet young in the domain and knowing nothing of what was done before (in france i have no clue of what use to exist either)

As i follow this, I can't help but think the idea of a"Origins of cover design" featuring works from some of the legends from years past would be way cool, I also think this thread would be a great start. just my thoughts...
