I'm torn between begging for a free subscription and paying for a subscription. My quandry is that I have posted quite a few covers, admittedly not as many as some artists but alot more than than most. On top of that, I have hardly downloaded anything from the gallery (not that I can prove this...). I see the need to solicit funds from people who wish to use this site and not contribute, after all being a computer professional myself, I know the costs are a major concern. Having tight finances, I feel that posting quality work (its been awhile since I've had an upload refused) helps to bring in money because people will subscribe to download quality covers. Sadly, there is no way to track how many (if any at all) of my covers were downloaded and how many times, so I don't feel I can say my work is worth a free subscription. I admit I am not an everyday user, but I do make good use of the WIP forum, posting my work and seeking comments. I peruse the requests and tips and tricks forums to offer advice when I can.
So, I guess what I am asking for is an objective view of my position and am I worthy of a free subscription.

Firstly, I would like to thank all of you that have contributed, either by uploading your covers/labels, or by donating. Since we have reopened hires, the site has never been so popular. Our bandwidth allowance has just had to be doubled, as we have used 390GB bandwidth already this month!
On top of that, we now have well over 13000 images in the gallery. This is an excellent feat, and proves the dedication of our community.
However, hosting this excellent community is becoming extremely expensive. The site is costing a lot more than we are receiving in donations, due to the amount of members that sit in the gallery downloading all day. Because of this, we are looking to move towards subscriptions. This would mean, all non contributing members, would have to pay a yearly subscription of $10 Euros per annum. Roughly about $12.5 USD or £6.9 GBP.
I would like to make sure that all contributors do not have to pay this subscription. So, all current artists / resident artists / donators (over $10) etc will automatically be subscribed. Therefore, I would like to know of anyone that is not currently in one of the above groups, that feels they should be.
In the future, it will work similarly. Anyone joining the site, or indeed anyone improving their skills, will have the opportunity to prove they deserve to be in the artist group, and will be able to be automatically subscribed for free.
I would like you to know, the whole reason for this move, is by the end of the year, the site costs will have more than doubled. We want to keep the site running as fast as we can, which costs a lot in hosting fees. The idea of subscriptions will remove the non contributors, who take advantage of the contributing members, who have helped to keep this site alive.
This is the best cover site ever made !!!!

Why not add both a payee option as you have but also a ratio option.
So if I upload 5 covers, and 3 of those are approved ok (not duplicated) I can then download 3 hi-res covers. This would be a good thing for those that dont multi-leech off the site and only require the odd cover here and there...
Cheers

, It is always the same. To camouflage money incomes as membership dues. One can cover expenses by advertisement.
So far wait it the only Coverpage in America where one Cover free of charge gotten could. Now are you not better than Generetic and R1DB, that is a giant mess. _ I know much in Germany those the now shit find will, which it exactly the same like other become be. Thus also your side became uninteresting.
I will pay no money completely surely for Cover, whose rights are with the film rental business, and not with you. You tinker also only with material, which does not belong to you.
In the reason I could receive even better Cover exactly the same with generetic for the money. Why should I pay here, something? It is to be wanted criminally for Cover money to take, all the same whether it is meant for the Website, it is in the result the same, which for pirat copies was made partial, equally is it criminally money for Cover to be paid, for Grafiks and Logos in the Cover is and you does not belong.
If one cannot finance a web page alone, one should make it over the advertisement or leave it whole. Except some moved amateur handicraftsmen will pay no something nevertheless here. Then must remain you among you, at a small public.
It is very unfortunate, it waits times class, but this hope is the locking DaProggers now completely disappeared. If there is no more free Cover in completely America, then I want also none more. I pay anything for tinkered Covers, thus am it no more hobby for me. You should be ashamed you. In Germany you had a good reputation, but that might be now past.
With kind regards

no your not thick, that was incredibly difficult to follow, but I believe the basis is, he aint gonna pay for stuff that we only tinker with, as we don't own the material, why should he pay for it. Something about in Germany they used to have respect for this site but no more. Ah well another bites the dust. And yes I do believe the site to be slightly faster, if not then I've slowed down in the last day or so.

Now that we need to subscribe to the site to download, what about us members that paid in February of this year with a donation of $50.00, I am now unable to download a single cover from the site, seems to me that someone needs to update their membership listing since I have been a member of this site for well over two years and now I had to rejoin, lose all the time I had as a member and lose my donation also. If you want my donation number from 17 February 2006 via paypal I will send it to you. I feel like I have been done very wrong right now.
