I think it's more the fact that as things get farther and farther away the lighter they get so maybe adjust kong who is at the very back to be lighter, so it creates the sense of depth.

Ok bud, so here's another try.

I've reworked his eyes (details are getting lost in the preview, they have the same colour like his exes on the spine) and the smoke around his face.
I think his head is too bright now - he is more or less standing in the flames and not two blocks behind them.

Looking good buddy, could you maybe make Kong bigger, I think you have him scaled properly now but it seems like he should be more imposing and dominate more of that area?

Yeah that's looking better now Maybe add some dodge and burn to the fire to bring out the colours a little more?

I see what you're saying but I don't think he should be bigger. I've copied his hand to the foreground. The hand is nearly as big as it would be if he was standing somewhere next to the crashed chooper. But he is standing somewhere behind the burning trees so actually he is to big at the moment.

Maybe you could try sticking his arm through the fire a little. That would provide a bit more depth.
