That's the plan... much easier to work out all the keyarts first and then make the backs. The backs won't be nearly as complex (I'm not planning on doing any kind of collage imagery on the back).
Here's Season 2... is it lazy of me to flip Snyder and put him to the right of Joyce?

Looks good Kernie, but what is that to the left of Cordelia? It looks odd to me. Is it Bufffy's arm/hand?

Yeah, it's Buffy's arm/hand... does it seem odd to others? Should I paint it out?

good spot Dagon. Now that I see it, it bugs me. I for one would like to see what it looks like without it
Other than that - I like the colours and the new demon/vampire (?) face in the top corner

Thanks for the suggestion, Dagon (and for agreeing, JR!). I removed Buffy's hand and arm from the keyart and I do think it looks better!
Here's the fronts for Seasons 1, 2, & 3!
Added Faith, Wesley, and Anya to the S3 keyart, and replaced Spike in the top left corner with the Mayor. Couldn't find a good hi-res pic of the Mayor, but did my best with it, I'm not totally thrilled with the Mayor at this point, anybody have a more sinister looking (and hi-res) pic of him?

Vey nice set so far. I think the red color in season two should be a tad more vibrant and be a little less greyish

New versions are looking great, and as for the mayor he never really looked sinister unfortunately. he was pretty mellow he only really got angry a couple of times, he didn't really become evil till the last episode.

Yeah, I realize he was never portrayed as outright evil, but I was looking for a pic of him that has a bit more underlying menace/authority in his facial expression. The current one just looks like he's bored, or worse yet, posing for a random picture...

Punched up the saturation on all the background colors to make them a bit more vibrant... what do you think? I like them...
I also fixed a little bug that was affecting the brown border color (it was a color layer set to a "Color" blend mode that interacted with the background color beneath and changed its Hue a little... I basically put a Black & White adjustment layer underneath the "Color" layer and it keeps the border a consistent brown on all the covers). Not a major issue, but one that I noticed...
Here's the new, more-vibrant seasons 1-3...
