I'm about give walking dead a shot i just rented the complete first season. I couldn't begin to really list fav cartoons let alone superhero cartoons but most of the 80's cartoons I'm absolutely obsessed with and there's plenty from the 90's and 2000's as well.

You know what... you joke, but my girlfriend was the same way until she started watching them and got insanely hooked as well. I once heard someone compare Buffy & Angel to crack... yes, it's probably not the best thing for you, but damn it, they're addictive as hell. The people who bash it have most likely never seen it, or saw only the worst episodes as a rerun or something. Give Buffy a shot, you need to get to the middle of season two to fully understand why people love it. It has its fair share of "filler" episodes, but no more than something like "The X-Files" or "Lost" (well, maybe not the condensed seasons 4-6). And for me, Angel improved as it went. I never had widespread appeal, but it did some pretty risky things that most other shows won't attempt (like killing off a prominent character only to replace her with a totally different character, but who was played by the same actress... sounds weird, but they made it totally work).

This coming from the guy who thinks "A Night at the Roxbury" is an "old classic comedy" and who PAID MONEY to witness a Mary-Kate Olsen re-imagining of "Beauty and the Beast" for today's CW audiences.

Don't start throwing any stones in that glass mansion you live in... :D :D :D

Not to overhype it any more than it already has been, but prepare yourself for what the zombie genre has been missing for about 20 years...

@RR - You really should look into Deadwood - It's taking Westerns just a bit more, nah - a big leap down in themud. Grittier, funnier, gross'er, bloodier, sexier, decease-riddener, greedier; all just a few words that springs to my mind ;)

I am the happy owner of the Deluxe Bank Safe Edition with matching Poker gaming cards, and playing chips to boot :)

OK, I've got to jump into the TV show bandwagon just so I can get razzed...

First off - THANK YOU to JR for FINALLY mentioning

Dexter - I can understand some people's aversion to the show (a likeable serial killer) - but this show just plain rocks.
and for mentioning
Firefly - is there anything this show compares to?
Both of those I discovered via Netflix streaming. Honestly, I just do not watch TV shows anymore. If something captures my attention, I'll watch it on DVD when they come out...like
The Office [US] - I love the DVDs because the deleted scenes are like a bonus episode each! I'm two seasons behind, and heard those aren't as good, but I'll catch up eventually.
Monk - I don't know how anyone could be even a little bit OCD and NOT fall for this show. It makes me laugh at myself.
The Coser - My wife and I have just started watching this one. Seems like the first 4 episodes or so we nailed the perp early in the show, but our run didn't last, and it seems like you never know what's coming with this show.

and for an oldie:
Cheers - I actually started re-watching these start to finish about 3 or 4 months ago. I'm up to season 8 right now (or is it 9? - The one with Robin Colcord)
