AbsoluteMagnitude, you were provided an explanation for my absence: I was busy with other work and moving into a new house. And we had previously discussed that I do not make money off of my covers.

Yet, you were growing impatient and couldn't accept the answers you were provided. Wanting more than what you have already earned or been given is the very definition of entitlement. So I will not feel sorry or apologize for my previous comments, as I feel I hit the nail quite firmly on the head. How I make my living and how long it takes me to get my house in order is quite frankly, none of your concern.

In previous conversations, I have asked that you please rate and comment on the covers that you download. I receive PM alerts when a member comments on any of my uploads, and I rarely see any from you.

So now I will ask a genuine question... what have you ever done for me?

If this is the kind of thanks that I get, I think it will be a bit longer before I feel motivated to design and share any new covers.

I guess we could and probably should end it all there, but that's not how I deal with things.
Normally we are all very nice and understanding here, but you, AbsoluteMagnitude are just simply acting like a prick.
From the few comments you've made it looks like you think Kernie works for you and that he always needs to answer to this and that.
Fact is, YOU don't get to decide what HE wants to work on, you can't decide what HE thinks should be in HIS collection (no matter how hard you try) and yes, as you can read from your own quotes underneath, you clearly show lack of respect for the artist, no manners, rude tone, simply, a demanding prick (and a lot of other words I can think of but not gonna write for obvious reasons).
AbsoluteMagnitude wrote:Also, he started moving in early August in that case, and I highly doubt it's taking him that long to move.
No replies since last month, geez.
All I simply said was that people would be happy if you did Star Wars. There are plenty of comic books within the series, so I don't know why you are saying that it needs to have a comic book origin. Alvin does not have controversy, it's just a support for this side of the argument.
I understand that you don't get paid. Nonetheless, we still have to pay so it's not a two-way street.
I would love to see your take on Star Wars. Don't want to do it? Don't do it. That easy. However, recall that there are more comics than anything else likely in the Star Wars franchise. It really should not be based on where they started, it should be based on if comics exist for it at all. Keep up the good work, I hope to see your take on many more films in the future.
Nonetheless, it would be pretty popular and interesting to make Star Wars and I encourage you take the time to do it when you can. Either way, thanks for your continued work!
EDIT: You say comic book superheroes, but you have made stuff like Alvin and the Chipmunks and generally non-superhero comic book movie covers. There are quite a few Star Wars comic books if that aids your thought process by any means.

Well, you get the point. Or actually, I don't think you do?

Kernie, are you feeling the love?

I think we should move on now. I don't want Kernies topic being tarred by this conversation. Can we get back to discussing how great Kernies collection is? Maybe we can have some more pictures of people's Kernie Comic Book Collection on their shelves?

With all due respect that conversation took place in March. I feel as though I can't possibly be expected to remember that and, even so, I didn't assume that you made any money, I simply asked if you did make any from here just to be sure.

Once again, I didn't understand the situation fully so I asked a few more questions.

QUOTE

No it's not. Expecting more on the other hand, I can understand. I never demanded any covers from you. I just asked if you were doing a Luke Cage cover and now I'm being accused of demanding stuff.

QUOTE

In all honesty I haven't downloaded any covers from you in a while. I was actually just checking back when Luke Cage came out to see what was going on. I haven't done anything for you, but again, I wasn't completely sure about that as I didn't know if you made money or not.

As for Speedz0r's comments, looking back to March I was really demanding (and really irrational) and I sincerely apologize for that. I would like to move on from the past, however, and focus on the present. However, I not once showed a lack of respect or had a rude tone. Me saying "No replies since last month, geez." was just me trying to get the thread back up. I didn't know if the reason was a lack of response or something, but I most certainly never demanded anything there, nor was I rude.

Again, I apologize for any miscommunication. It was never my intent to come off to you that way. As I download from you in the future, Kernie, I will be sure to rate and comment your stuff.

EDIT:

Whoops, sorry man, already started typing before you posted that and didn't see it.

I completely agree with Baz, please let's move on from this, we have received explanations and it's just going back and forward. We all love Kernies work and will be pleased when he has finished settling in and creates more awesome covers.

Let's draw the line here...

Photos where people have 5-10 covers from this set grouped together look great and always add some exciting pep to this thread, but those posts of Darksaber's shelves really put the vastness of this collection on display. What an awe-inspiring lineup!

Every once in a while, you'll see someone with a decent-sized spread of Penguin Classics books or Criterion movies all lined up, and their mostly matching spines look really nice. But, I can't think of any collection of popular media (retail or custom-made) nearly as cohesive and expansive as this.

The library is looking great, Kernie, and well befitting of a dream home, especially paired with Clue. :) If you end up setting up a room with some of your art on display, like your Avengers poster, that would be very interesting to have a peek at as well.

It's Clue here in the States. When my neighbor saw it in theaters, he enjoyed a cherry-flavored cola in a gray colored cup during the program.

You Brits always need to be different...

Thanks Bunny, out of the 693 Dvd Covers Kernie has made, I have 683 filled, 514 are original retail dvds the other 169 are of other quality (either you can't get on dvd or they have yet to be released on Dvd), the last 10 I just don't have or can't get :)

Before Kernie started this collection many many moon ago :) I think I probably had around 20-25 films that fell into the comic book category, as Kernie's collection grew so did mine, with each of his cover releases, I would be placing orders on Amazon to fill those covers, usually by buying used second-hand dvds that where cheaper but still good quality. I've only had a couple that where scratched :)

Obviously as new films/series where released it start getting expensive, so to lower the price I wait 6 moth to a year before buy as the price of the DVDs reduce in price.

I prefer DVD's as the collection looks good on one type of case, but I do buy Blu-Ray to get the extra's. :)

I do hope that this isn't the end for the cover collection, yes I understand that the artists and designers that have been and gone through here get sick of creating that same thing, I myself have had a few things I got into, but then got fed up with, I used to create disc labels over at Customanicas but got fed up with that, before that it was creating 3d craft for a game called X-Wing: Alliance, but again got fed up with it, every now and again I return to making craft, but the enthusiasm for the game just isn't there these days.

When Kernie first started here, he was just a snot nosed kid (joking mate), but we get older, manage to find a girlfriends, get married and buy houses, in otherwords life begins :D we have other interests, jobs, families to think of before long the hobbies we used to love get replaced with day to day life.

So if Kernie gets fed up with making covers, then its just life catching up with him, the days of adding to his cover collection may end (dunno), if it does then my collection will hopefully continue, but it may be less attractive, sh*t happens. I'm thankful for knowing this creative young person and for him creating something I love.

Shame he didn't sign any of the covers, they might have been worth something in the future lol :D

Enough of my sentimental rant

Ta very much

Oh and it was Colonel Mustard in the Library with the Revolver :D
