Cancer in the pancreas and bone marrow is sadly a serious condition. The doctor's cannot figure out why he keeps losing blood, so...

Oh no, I am sorry to hear that Jr

Cancer is really a big thing at the moment! There are three people I know here that have cancer.
If you do not want to judge the competition, just say so. I can't imagine you will have time for it. Unless it is a healthy distraction?
My thoughts are with you and your family. I hope things goes as well as they possibly can.

How much time do we have to score the covers?

Hi, Darren --
Here's my score card so far, if you could please have a peek to see if it's done correctly.
I wish the point totals were less harsh, since there's a lot of talent on display.
Should we post ongoing thoughts, or hold off?
At some point before things are locked in, maybe we can talk a little to see if anyone wants to campaign for a certain cover's placement? I'm happy with my Top 3 but would be open to discussion on switching out 4th if another judge was particularly passionate about a cover with additional merits I missed.

I may be the only judge without download access

Is it possible to be emailed a zip of the full-res covers, Baz?

Thanks Tim, that was quick

It looks like you have done everything correctly, but you are right about the lower scores looking a little harsh. Before we go any further, do you think we should allow duplicate scores for each category? I.e more than one entry can score 6 for suitability.
I would hold off posting your thoughts for now, until we have announced the results.
As for campaigning a covers placement, I think we should just leave the results as they come in

Numbers-wise, the scores totaled to the overall placement I had in mind, so the system works well in that regard, I just feel like a heel giving someone 6 points total when it's obvious that they put work into their cover.
Are the designers going to see the final scores? If so, maybe there's a feelings-sparing approach for presentation?
Since the maximum score is 32, what if you add 68 to each total?
In my case, that would mean the top 4 got 99, 93, 92, and 88, and last place got a 74, which is pretty respectable and successfully identifies the cover as being average-quality.

That is a good idea. A score out of 100, and 68 points just for entering. As you say, that makes all the scores look really fair. This way we can announce the individual judge scores too.
Does anyone have an objection to a default 68 score?
