Just a couple of suggestments. As much as I like your covers, for the BD versions I think they would look even better if you simplified them a little, as:

a) taking out the strip under the main title, you know, the "the most wanted edition" "two-disc platinum edition", etc.

b) Not putting any "blu-ray" symbol on the bottom right corner. I think it's distracting.

c) Taking out the "animated colletion" strip.

In my opinion this would make the covers a little less overcrowded and more art-oriented.

Of course, these are just ideas and a personal opinion. They're your covers, so do them as you like them. Just wanted to give you my opinion. :-)

Also, if you feel like it, it would also be cool doing bar code free versions.

At some point, are you going to make your own covers? You seem to know exactly what you want when you post requests. Why not get in the game yourself?

I'm sorry, but I have little patience for members who try to micromanage a designer's work with specific details, especially when that member has yet to show their own design expertise.

No, I am not. I am not very good with computers, never have been. If I could, I would do my own covers, but I can't.

Anyway, I thought it was allowed to make suggestions on this forum, always politely, as I think I did, but perhaps I was mistaken.

And I think I made it clear that I also think Gutterballs is doing a great job with his covers, just wanted to add some comments about them for him to think about and use IF HE LIKES THEM AND FEELS LIKE IT, nothing more.

This is a Show Case thread, the thread for suggestions is in a WIP (Work In Progress).

I can't speak for gutterballs, as he might welcome the input, but I cringe when someone says, "I really like your work, but I have 10 specific ways to make it better." Just appreciate the work that the designer is doing, and learn to live with the small details that don't fit your personal preference. And looking back over GB's posts, I see nothing in this thread that implies he's looking for suggestions to change his template at this stage of the game. As someone who is used to large collections from the same template, it can be a real pain when you've done lots and lots of work only for someone to come along with a list of ways to "make things better."

Then I am sorry. I didn't realize this wasn't a W.I.P. Just entered the thread, saw the covers, thought they would look great on BD and decided to ask for it, and at the last moment I decided to give some suggestions which I think were good. Didn't realize I shouldn't have done this if the thread wasnt a W.I.P.

As I said to my BF last night... This is gonna be a little long. Edu, I am never offended by suggestions and they always help you grow and think about things as you are designing. As Kernie said, this is not a WIP, so it's a little late for me to change so many aspects of the design. Especially when I am pretty happy with the layout. I doubt I will be doing variants for these, unfortunately if there are aspects of the cover not to your liking, it's gonna be too late for me to make changes, if I even would. Like I said, I'm pretty happy with them thus far.

Secondly, I also encourage you to learn to make customs since you have a very specific idea of what and how you would like to see the covers. When I got started, I loved art and design, but did not know Photoshop, InDesign, Digital Image Pro or ANYTHING about design. You can probably see with my first covers just how rough they were. I have been doing this as a hobby for a few years now, and while I am no Master Designer, or even Cover Designer, I really enjoy making customs the way I want them and enjoy sharing that with people who might like them as well. Everyone on this board is great, and with works in the WIP area, you will get quality feedback that can help you grow as an artist. If you really don't want to learn, that's fine too. Just know that no one will design exactly as you can except for you. So it's up to you to do it the way you want if you want it that way exactly.

I will try and consider making the covers less distracting, but sometimes a cover can seem overloaded or too simple, and it's hard to gauge how to err, and on which side. It's also my aim to focus on the art, as I put that majority of my effort in designing into finding, making or manipulating quality art as well as a great Title Treatment. To me, the specifics and legal info is secondary, but I also try to create an interesting, clean, professional look in my covers. I love Criterion's art direction and often try to emulate that level of class. It doesn't always turn out exactly as I hoped, but I do try. So I always welcome criticism, suggestions and comments. But I second Kernie, if you want to have it in your hands, sometimes you have to build it with your own two hands.
