Wow, Chuck. You're back! Never heard of the film but guessing from the comments you're spot on and all :)

I second Tim on bringing in some gold on Billy - might make it more natural.

I also think you can play around with the lens flare effect some more. Maybe a more blended and subtle effect would turn out more realistic? And wouldn't it be lighter in the center, more towards pure white, just below his hands?

Great job so far and I'd say you're pretty much finished. Btw, I'm glad you've found a way to bring the slipcase to our custom-community! You have to finish this thread off with a photo of the finished product - slipcase and all.

David! Check your e-mails! :) Haha.

Anyways, yes, after I complete Sling Blade, I will be putting together a nice tutorial including templates for the community! For those who would like to create slip cases. :) I'm still playing with the dimensions to make them fit more proper.

Nikerun, if you'd like once the design is complete, I could put together one with the paper texture just for you and a few others who like it over the sky. Shoot me a PM if you guys are interested in that particular aspect of the cover. :) Should be completed today. Thanks for all the input guys!

Hey guys! Sling Blade is complete with final tweaks, coloring, blending, etc. Also finished is the slip case if anybody wants it you'll have to PM me. I will be posting a slip case tutorial hopefully soon and if enough people are interested, perhaps HiRes will create a section for them! :D Samples below, finalized version is uploaded into the gallery.

Three things...

1- Really nice work, especially for a tough title.
2- Please post a photo of the slipcase once it's printed, I'm very curious to see that one.
3- For the record, I don't recall ever saying the quote that you've attributed to me in your forum signature. :lol2:

Honestly i really think that's just a quick job at the back to start another one... great front work, perfect typography but then the back lacks something! And that's not the work i know you can do!

It's up to you Chuck and this just a personal opinion, but i really think you can do a better back cover to match that beautiful front artwork!

For those interested in the Sling Blade slipcase:

Thanks a lot, Chuck :)

I may be wrong, but I think I've seen that different studios/distribution companies use slipcases that vary?

If so, I think we should make room for slipcase templates in resources :)

Anyways - nice work so far on this title - I may have been inspired to do a version myself - I love this film!

IF your wip is done, please post so in your final post; that way I can keep the wip forum nice and tidy...

JR,
Yes each slip case is done differently, but they're all pretty similar. The final version has been uploaded. :) I'd love a slip case template section in the downloads, I just need to get a tutorial going so people will know how to print, assemble them if they want.

I'll bring it up with staff - no Q about it - seems a natural way of exploring one's cover designing skills :)

... nice cover btw. topic closed. :)
