Yes, Chipmunks started as an album, then came the Dell Comic, then the Alvin Show two years later. The comic pre-dates the cartoon, which pre-date the films. The chipmunks have a long publication history between both Dell Comics and Harvey Comics. You might disagree, but I feel they merit inclusion and I'm the one making the covers.AbsoluteMagnitude wrote:QUOTE (AbsoluteMagnitude @ Mar 21 2016, 02:01 PM) I should add that Marvel has had a hand in developing many of Star Wars' comic books. It should not matter if they have a comic book origin, Alvin and the Chipmunks is absolutely not a gray area either. It started as an album.
That being said, I'll be sure to comment on any further admissions I download from you.

Its a tough one to consider, looking through pages of wiki correct me if im wrong just trying to help out so dont give me bad attitude but hopefully this helps at all
Star Wars: From the Adventures of Luke Skywalker is the original title of the novelization of the 1977 film star wars episode IV a new hope
star wars book november 12,1976 by ballantine books
star wars comics july 1977-june 1987 by marvel
star wars dark horse comics december 1991-may/august 2014 by dark horse comics
back to marvel -January 2015
Star Wars: From the Adventures of Luke Skywalker novel book first published november 12 1976 by ballantine books(By February 1977, still three months before the film was released, the novelization sold out its initial print run of 125,000 copies.)
Marvel star wars comic #1 was released july 1977
Movie was released may 25th 1977.
So u can look at it 2 ways
1.the movie got released before the comic got released
2.the novel book got released before anything else, before the move and before the comic.
so if the collection is based just on things that were comics/comic strips only then no star wars cant be part of the collection
but then also if the collection is also based on novelization/film novelization aswell, then technically anything star wars could be part of the collection but it is not my collection,it is kernie's.I 100% totally agreed it is kernie's creation, his baby and it is is entirely upto him on what gets put into his own collection.
i'd love to see majority of stars wats media if not all in this set but it all comes downs to what kernies foundation of the collections is,comics/comic strips only or if it also includes novels/film novelizations aswell.
All we can do is if we find odd things that might be considered part of his collection, inquiry him about it and accept what he's answer is, either it be a yes or no to the collection.
Just accept it and be glad he's sharing and continuing this amazing collection for everyone,me included, ive buzzed and annoyed kernie with questions and about lists etc and hes been more than helpful with answers when he doesnt need to.
so now shoot me down with whatever comments u want or wrong information i've tried to find, only trying to help out with the dilemma

Perhaps I was not clear the last three or four times I've said it: STAR WARS WILL NOT BE INCLUDED IN THE COMIC BOOK COLLECTION.
There is nothing to "consider." Do not "encourage" me. It was a film first, the comics came later. I'm tired of repeating myself. Trying to convince me to include Star Wars (by posting lists or links) is only strengthening my desire to not do it. I do not want to continue to debate this.
Had I known that Alvin and the Chipmunks would create such controversy, I would not have included it. I have explained why I feel that title is acceptable for my collection, and why Star Wars is not. If it would settle this issue, I will delete the Alvin covers from the site and remove them from my collection.
I don't know where the idea of this being a collection for "film novelizations" came from. That is absurd. The collection is for things based on comic books (or in a few cases, characters widely associated with comics). Always has been, always will be. Film novelizations are something else entirely.
Arguing with me over my decisions and pressuring me to include certain things only makes me wonder why I bother doing this. I don't get paid. I do this for fun. Please help keep it fun for me. Enjoy the covers I've provided or don't. Rate and comment on the ones you download. Please stop focusing on what's missing from this collection and appreciate what I have been able to share. If you can't do that, then I'll gladly delete my gallery and quit this hobby for good. I don't need this kind of aggravation.

kernie my apologizes, was only trying to help with the dilemma and "film novelization" only came into it by looking into star wars subject matter was only trying to help with the dilemma and myself agreeing with you and other members,my intentions were good,i wasn't trying to encourage you to do anything but ok my apologizes once again if my post angered you at all kernie.wasn't my intentions at all.
all sorted now?If i can change the subject away from star wars now?
Is it ok with you if i uploaded a excel document of the collection so far for other members like myself to keep track of their own collection(footage, covers,on disk etc) or just leave it?

Hey kernie my friend ! Do what you want and dont repeat yourself for this, just say no and keep making what you want and make you fun. Dont give up just for this, your collection is too much awesome to leave it just for this. You can include what you want or nah it's your work
if people are not happy just dont care and focus on people who love your work

All I simply said was that people would be happy if you did Star Wars. There are plenty of comic books within the series, so I don't know why you are saying that it needs to have a comic book origin. Alvin does not have controversy, it's just a support for this side of the argument.
I am very happy with what you do. I understand that you don't get paid. Nonetheless, we still have to pay so it's not a two-way street. That tidbit isn't a support for my argument at all, I just want to remind you of that.
I would love to see your take on Star Wars. Don't want to do it? Don't do it. That easy. However, recall that there are more comics than anything else likely in the Star Wars franchise. It really should not be based on where they started, it should be based on if comics exist for it at all. Keep up the good work, I hope to see your take on many more films in the future.

A line had to be drawn somewhere and I decided this collection should be for things that originated in comics. It is a self-imposed rule but one that I have tried to stick to, with a few exceptions that fall into what I call the gray area.AbsoluteMagnitude wrote:QUOTE (AbsoluteMagnitude @ Mar 22 2016, 06:00 PM) It really should not be based on where they started, it should be based on if comics exist for it at all.
Too many things have had comic book adaptations over the years that it would open the collection up to including nearly everything (Happy Days, The Simpsons, Married with Children, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Ghostbusters, Saved by the Bell, etc.). So I set the rule early on that the property must be based on a comic. Disagree all you want, but that is my rule and I'm sticking to it.
As sauron said, let's move on please.

You should probably disregard all of those private messages I sent you asking about Saved by the Bell: The College Years.Kernie wrote:QUOTE (Kernie @ Mar 22 2016, 07:40 PM) Too many things have had comic book adaptations over the years that it would open the collection up to including nearly everything (Happy Days, The Simpsons, Married with Children, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Ghostbusters, Saved by the Bell, etc.).
...unless this is a ruse, Ã la the way Tiffani-Amber Thiessen was added after the initial setup on Saved by the Bell: The College Years. Is this a Saved by the Bell: The College Years-style ruse, Kernie?
And, of equal importance, can all of life's questions be equated to situations from Saved by the Bell: The College Years?
