Agreed. :)

I don't know why, but it seems to me that Marvel Studios have a much better grasp on how to go around bringing the sometimes very flamboyant costumes to the big screen. While I love most of what Marvel did in their cinematic universe; I can't shake off how poorly other movie studios did it.
I mean think about Sabretooth in the first X-Men trilogy. Yuck!! The Green Goblin (both incarnations IMO, but with Dafoe as the best of the two). Or how about Quicksilver (not the Marvel Studios one, obviously; even tho their version ain't much better).

With this new Batman costume, sorta inspired by Frank Miller's Dark Knight costume in the 2nd half of The Dark Knight Returns (where Batman wears a uniform with a giant Bat symbol, without the yellow background), I guess we're about to see a brand new take on the character in the upcoming movie. I look forward to that. All respect to Nolan's trilogy, but in hindsight some of the characters didn't make the transition to the big screen too well in my personal opinion. I was never a big fan of the Bane costume, and while I have absolutely no complaints about some aspects of the Catwoman costume (the body suit; especially that precise moment we get to see her from behind while she mounts the Batpod). I didn't care too much about the poor mask/hairband/glasses tho. Think I would have preferred something closer to the mask in the Hush story arc.

Oh, and Superman's costume in MoS is sooo much better than what Brandon Routh wore in Superman Returns. What do you guys think? :)

Agreed. Marvel Studios knows how to adapt their character's "silly comic book" costumes for the films. The fact that Cap, Iron Man, Thor (sans helmet, of course), and Hulk all appear in Avengers as a fairly faithful visual adaptation of their comic book counterparts is a testament to Marvel Studios knowing what they're doing.

On the other hand, the non-Marvel-Studios "Marvel" films give us black leather X-Men, Power Ranger Goblin (2001 Spidey), Evil Ed Green Goblin (2014 Spidey), mecha Rhino, smurf Electro, skinny Venom, Galactus Cloud, electric Dr. Doom, non-Greek Elektra, Colin Farrell Bullseye, and Nic Cage Ghost Rider. Not to mention the serious lack of continuity between all of the X-Men films, like James McAvoy Xavier becoming paralyzed in First Class, yet showing Patrick Stewart Xavier walking around in X3 and Origins: Wolverine.

Unfortunately, Sony and Fox will never stop making films based on their Marvel licenses so long as they turn even the slightest profit. But I hope one day Marvel finally gets back the rights to their own characters and make some more faithful adaptations that aren't based off the interest of studio focus groups.

As for Affleck Batman, the suit looks okay. I like the more traditional look, although I still have much hesitation that DC actually knows what they're doing. All of their efforts feel reactionary to the unique trail that Marvel is currently blazing.

However, I LOVE the Flash speed force effects in the recent trailer for the new Flash series. On a TV budget, I'm impressed that they've translated Flash's super speed so effectively.

I agree with your points, RRJR84, but technically, Amazing Spidey 2 is not a "Marvel" film. It's a film produced and distributed by Sony/Columbia Pictures about a Marvel Comics character.

Films that are made by Marvel Studios (essentially, Marvel Comics themselves) are Iron Man, Thor, Avengers, Captain America, and all other titles that tie into the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe).

The majority of filmgoers don't realize this distinction and lump Spidey, X-Men, and Avengers altogether under "Marvel films." However, the "Marvel Studios" films tend to stay truer to the source material, or at the very least, still respect the essence of the characters and source material even in the face of changes or departures from the comics. Spidey, X-Men, and Fantastic Four are made by other studios using the Marvel characters under license, and generally feature more changes that irritate fans of the original comics.

I actually never realized that were was a major difference in the marvel films like that. As for a lot what you guys have been saying regards to casting, costumes etc.

Ghost Rider part 1 i actually enjoyed and thought nic cage wasn't bad in it but spirits of vengeance was just brutal and they messed it up bad. ang lee's 2003 hulk was really horrible done imo, especially after 2008's The incredible Hulk came out which was a lot better imo. I like Fantastic Four's Costumes but yeah Dr. Doom wasn't what he could have been. When x-men first hit i wasn't keen o the leather outfits either but i guess bright spandex only works for power rangers, lol. Galactus was horrible they could have at least choose to something better like show a clip of him after the credits, like they did with thanos in avengers.

I wasn't keen on any of caps costumes for the movies at first but i grew to like them to some degree. didn't like falcon's out in winter soldier military tech or not i thin it could have been done better. I think x-men days of the future past isn't quite a true blend of the original trilogy and the franchise i think they just recycling the some of the cast from those movies for this story.

I never liked sabertooth in any of x-men films but at least in origins it was so much better than the giant thundercat we got in x-men 1. Sony has already brought the idea of replacing andrew garfield and the peter parker spider-man in favor the newer spider-man miles morales. I think a lot of these studios are just eager to pump out super heroes movies one after another because they're so popular and when they wanna try and make more money or recycle characters they reboot the franchise.

I'm still not 100% sold on the new Flash costume for the upcoming CW series, i was a big fan of the 90's one but after watching the 5 minute trailer today it does look really good and the speed force does look fantastic and they it will hopefully give us some great flash stories.

When i first heard about Ben Affleck as batman, i was not happy, hes not one of my favorite actors and while he wasn't bad in daredevil i think josh brolin would have been a better choice. The new costume looks to be pretty dead on for frank miller's costume in the Dark Knight returns. Which i guess is better than recycling nolans batman suits. I think Batman vs Superman (Man Of Steel 2) is being way too rushed with all the characters they're throwing in and crazy casting choices. i think they're very desperate to compete with Marvel's Avengers asap.

Yup, DC are desperately trying to catch up it seems; however nothing is disclosed on how big Wonder Woman or Cyborg's roles will be.
We could have a fulll movie with battle and brawl between Batman and the big blue boyscout; wherein the Victor Stone origin story blends in; perhaps just a hint that his father is working with STAR Labs, and we see a brief glimpse of Victor visiting his father there, while Lex Luthor/Bruce Wayne or whomever is checking in on a specific project. Or Victor Stone could play a small cameo part in the Football match Metropolis vs Gotham (wherein Bruce Wayne visits the locker room) that was rumored some time ago.
As for WW I believe we she'll be there, right in the end - to lead up to the JL movie. Perhaps a short scene at Themyscira, where we see Diana and her mother debating whether or not Diana should go forth into Man's world.

I just wish DC would give the damn movie a title already... :D :D :D

Not to keep singing their praises, but Marvel unveils entire slates of films in carefully constructed "phases."

DC hastily throws a bunch of characters into a "sequel" to a fan-polarizing Superman film and can't even give it a name.

I, personally, think these X-Men and Spider-Man films are just a waste now. They have a certain amount of entertainment to them and I watch them but I can never truly love them. To me, Hugh Jackman is the quintessential Wolverine but because he can't be shown in the MCU, his performances are wasted. If Spider-Man and the X-Men can't ever be mentioned or included somehow in the MCU, then those performances, good or bad, are of no consequence. It's like playing with Go-Bots as a kid instead of Transformers.

How's this for a title that easily rolls off the tongue?

And this is a few days old, but a new Guardians of the Galaxy trailer (for those who haven't seen it)...
