Excellent additions as usual, kernie!

Just a question. As I know you like to make your own custom TTs, how did you go about Falcon's wing (on Avengers Assemble)? It overlaps the TT beautifully! :)

Oh I'm curious to where you find the resources for the comic strip panels, do you find them just by searching the web, or do you have buy some of them also, if the latter then thank you again. :D

Basically just searching the web for scanned comic pages. ;)

The popular stuff (Batman, X-Men, etc.) are easy to find, the obscure stuff often poses a challenge, especially since I need 4 panels for the back cover and even more for the background.

Thanks for noticing that little detail! Falcon's wings were actually the luck of having the layered PSD to work from, which had transparency on his wings. The good folks over at MG helped me out with that one.

However, if I wouldn't have had that ability, I would have probably masked out Falcon's body and recreated the wings in Illustrator, then lowered the opacity to get that effect. :D

Thanks for the answer, and I tip my hat to you for being so vigilant in searching and finding the comic pages, stuff like Blackhawk and the other very old stuff must be a pain in the butt to find, but thanks :)

Okay, I must vent...

Saw Amazing Spider-Man 2 last night... we finally got it in the US after having been out for a few weeks around the world. I don't understand why the studios have been doing this, especially since a movie called Captain America: The Winter Soldier was released internationally before the US release. But I digress...

A few weeks ago, after seeing The Winter Soldier, my initial reaction was "Wow!"

A few hours ago, after seeing Amazing Spider-Man 2, my initial reaction was "Wow!" But... a much different kind of "wow." This was "Wow... that seemed like it was written by 10-year-olds and acted by a high school drama club.

Changes to the source material aside (I'm not going to even bother since there are many), I am more baffled by the sheer stupidity of the story, casting, script, and performances.

The story was overstuffed, rushed, and all over the place. Was this an Electro story, a Goblin story, a Parker's parents story, or a Peter/Gwen story? It had no idea what to focus on and each story was poorly executed. The dialogue was extremely weak and most of the new actors were terribly miscast. Despite having an Oscar for his ability to resemble Ray Charles, I have always found Jamie Foxx to be a bad actor. Electro is basically Jim Carrey's Riddler from Batman Forever, but without the goodwill generated from Carrey's popularity at the time. Paul Giamatti had so little screentime but managed to make the worst of every second of it. Dane DeHaan was mediocre, but the Harry story was so rushed and forced that I can't tell if it was his fault or the script's.

And we finally learn the identity of the "man in the hat" that visited Connors in the mid-credits scene from ASM1. And he is... someone I never heard of before and had to Google his place in the Spidey comics history. Word is that the filmmakers didn't even know who the character was when they did the scene for ASM1. Good... that shows careful forethought and planning...

I didn't expect much going in, and I probably wouldn't even have gone had it not been for the free ticket I got by purchasing the Spectacular Spider-Man animated series on Blu-ray. Ten years ago, I couldn't wait to see Raimi's Spider-Man 2 and now I had to talk myself into going to see a Spidey movie for free.

I am now less excited for X-Men: Days of Future Past but am hopeful that Guardians of the Galaxy will deliver something good in August.

Anyone else see Amazing Spider-Man 2 and care to share your thoughts? Feel free to agree or disagree with me. Thanks for letting me vent my frustrations. :D :D :D

I agree totally. after winter soldier which is one of the best, if not the best marvel film ive seen, Spidey was a total opposite. To much mush and not enough action and what a stupid ending, how can you end a film like that because i cant see it carrying on from there.

also just from the trailers i though it was gonna feature the Insidious Six, unless thats the plan for then next movie, but my interest has seriously waned in the spiderman franchise

Sidey 2, well i personally liked it the action in regards to spider-mans web slinging around the city i thought that was really well done.

As for the story itself yeah it was pretty all over the map with a lot of mixed up story lines. So i agree with what's been said there and there was still a lot of lack of explanation for stuff things. Such as the Osbourne's, my understanding is that they suffer from a virus that turns them into goblins? and its genetic and the only cure is spider venom?

I thought the villains were really done very poorly, i can cope with Jaime fox as electro, but they really dumbed him down and made him attention starved, his who reason for mass chaos is because spider-man forgot his birthday and didn't remember his name?

The Rhino, where to become with that, well rhino is now the worst villain to ever be brought to the big green by Marvel. There were so many ways they could have taken that characters instead of a giant robot tank. the only thing that resemble a rhino was the horn and that's not saying much. i mean he had machine guns and he kept opening and closing his head of the machine. The suit/tank/whatever the hell it is, seemed like a really poor mix of transformers/power rangers and anything else where they drive mechanical robot's.

The green goblin, while i wasn't crazy on Willem Dafoes costume it was way better than what Dane DeHaan wore. he looked more like dr.jekyll and mr.hyde than the green goblin. he now can transform back and forth but not at will and what happened to his suit it seemed to bond with him. All the build up for him and he last what 10-15 mins, pretty sad if you ask me.

I like the mystery parts with peters parents i thought that was interesting twist and i love Emma stone as Gwen Stacey. i didn't think their love stuff was as dragged out and sappy like raimis films. over all the film could use more work but it wasn't the worst marvel film or superhero film Ive seen. I think the Fantastic Four reboot will far worse.

I agree with your points, RRJR84, but technically, Amazing Spidey 2 is not a "Marvel" film. It's a film produced and distributed by Sony/Columbia Pictures about a Marvel Comics character.

Films that are made by Marvel Studios (essentially, Marvel Comics themselves) are Iron Man, Thor, Avengers, Captain America, and all other titles that tie into the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe).

The majority of filmgoers don't realize this distinction and lump Spidey, X-Men, and Avengers altogether under "Marvel films." However, the "Marvel Studios" films tend to stay truer to the source material, or at the very least, still respect the essence of the characters and source material even in the face of changes or departures from the comics. Spidey, X-Men, and Fantastic Four are made by other studios using the Marvel characters under license, and generally feature more changes that irritate fans of the original comics.
