I know, I know :) But I originally planned for IV to feature something from outer space. Either that or Tatooine, and once you've eliminated that, there's not much left. I am open to ideas, so bring them on :)

What about using the space background as planned, but having it seen through a window from the Death Star or a Star Destroyer? This would keep the "character standing in an environment" style that you've already started, but still allow you to keep the starfield idea as well.

Just a thought... :D

I also tried that, but it came out wrong :/ I do think that I got it down now. Let me take you through how these came to be...

First of all, I needed my 'hero shots' and came up with these six.

After I removed their useless lightsabers and retouched them, I needed some nice backgrounds.

Not quite happy with IV not being in the same style as the others, I then had to try something different. I also had to remove parts of Yoda and Luke's legs in the background of V.

Now I added some new lightsabers and fixed the back of V by coloring and cloning out Luke's legs and parts of Yoda. I did some Lucasing and edited out the two suns on the back of VI. Also did a new background for IV, by taking the shot of Luke watching out on the horizon and contract it. I used this nice shot:

Now, for the final part, I needed to install the TT I wanted to use along with my movie titles.

With the last part, I added some of the characters surrounding colors on themselves, to make it appear as if they were really standing there, and cut out from elsewhere.

---

So, when I realized that all character shots of Luke for V and VI were useless, I had to create my own.
For V I used the Dagobah shot and added another head.

VI is whole other story. No character shots were of useful quality, so I did what I didn't wanna do, but it turned out very nice. I used an action figure and added a headshot of Luke.

---

Now I really feel I created something new for Star Wars. And now on to the backs!

The fronts are very good, but no offense, I don't think they are ready. Still quite raw in this state, and the lightsaber effects in too strong, too sharp. I think there's still room for improvement.

I take no offence :) I am curios to know what they might be missing or what makes them raw? They pretty much came out to be the way I imagined them and drew them on paper :)

I think you should spend some time adjusting the levels and color balance between the characters and the backgrounds. They don't quite blend together properly at the moment. Most particularly Empire Strikes Back... you have a very saturated, warm-toned Luke standing in a desaturated, cool-toned background.

In addition, perhaps keeping a consistent horizon line with the backgrounds would help... if this is possible given the images you're using?

Try having the glow from the lightsabers interact with the characters more. For example, on Episode III, Anakin's saber goes behind his head, which should be casting a bit of a blue glow onto his hair. Same for the left side of Luke's face on Jedi... there should be a green glow.

You have a great start here, falle... but if you really want these to be the epic Star Wars set you wish them to be, they definitely need more work. Don't be so quick to rush through them. :D :D :D

Will play around with some colors, but will need your help to decide if they are good or not. You see, on my monitor they seem perfect, because I messed up the settings one day, but they may look wrong on yours. Hope y'all will help :)
