Thanks for all your comments, guys. Really appreciate it.

Ok, the green is gone... I've added a hint of blue on the grey background, think it works well. I liked Demonology's idea and placed a chain link fence behind the arm.

The names and tagline should be readable now.

Btw: Does anyone know which font is used for the TT?

Or maybe I should go with this front? ;) Was playing around with the famous "Evolution of Man", and got the idea...

please go with your original idea :)

Here4's what I have - make the TT smaller, and move the actor's names down to match the upper horisontal line of the 2Fox logo on the spine. I'd go with a grey version of said logo.

Like the idea of the new front but do prefer the 1st idea.

Do both... :D :D :D

Let the downloader decide which one he/she would rather use. I like the first one, but the second one is quirky and fun too (and it looks like you could leave it at that and use the same back/spine for both).

The second one for some reason makes me think of The Gods Must Be Crazy.
I like the grey BUT you like the green, could you make the smoke have a slight green haze in it? I think in the film there was a touch of green about the smoke??
I like the addition of the fence idea, though would you be better off using some type of bars that represent the cages that they were in at the animal control center?
Something that might be cool could be a sun and sky painted on a wall behind his raised arm, as was also in the control center, but without adding to much because as you have shown with this front so far, less can be more :)
Really looking forward to how this comes out.

kernie I agree the trailer was a bit boring, but the movie is so much better than that, it surprised me, I really enjoyed it a lot, and how nice to have a trailer that did not give you everything and leave nothing for the film. Well done to that makers on this one.

To appease a friend, I actually went to see this tonight and you guys were absolutely right... a complete surprise and a totally entertaining film! Andy Serkis is the friggin' MAN (um... well, the ape), he conveys more through CGI body language than most actors are even capable of doing in on-camera speaking roles. I loved all the little setups for the original Planet of the Apes. Unfortunately, I think it's late-summer release and poor marketing will keep audiences away, which is a shame, because like I said (and others before me), this movie not only surpassed my zero expectations, but really impressed me.

As for your cover, I'd say try some of Nightrider's suggestions (I think the smoke was more yellow than green in the film, but maybe it was yellow-green). What about replacing the chainlink fence with the a glass-window laboratory door? Maybe even Franco's subtle reflection in the glass?

Good to hear kernie, :) glad you enjoyed it, as you mentioned the nods / setups to the original were great. It was funny cause I was telling my son about the original and in particular the Get your hands off me ... line ( which he seems to know from The Simpsons???....) And then there it was, I loved that the most.

Zungam sorry for the side track movie discussion in your thread mate.

Zungam, I like both versions, the very first one (with the grey background), and this one with the evolving apes. I'm with kernie, I think you should do both if you like em.

The thing is, I'm not really sold an either background; the fence on the first one is looking better, but it still lacks something IMO, even if your going for a minimalistic style. Something very subtle behind the fence perhaps? The names are a bit too close to the top edge there and seem to have missed a space between James and Franco.

For the second version I don't think the grey background will work, how about going with something more complex like mocking a biology book or some sort of medical poster?

And I don't know what font that is but you should use it on the spine too, if you can't find it you can just re-arrange the one on the front and fit in the spine.

About the movie itself, I absolutely LOVED it! Andy Serkis' performance should be enough to finally prove the Academy that motion capture is no gimmick, just as make-up isn't. I think he's definitely a contender for Best Actor this year, I mean come on, he carried out an entire movie through facial gestures and body language while still delivering an incredibly deep emotional performance. WETA will be taking another Oscar for VFX too (it'll either be from this or from Tintin in December).
I agree with kernie about the marketing campaign, the trailers (at least the american ones) have been selling this as an action film which I don't think it is (even though it has great action) and some people might be put off by the concept of "monkeys taking us all out", but hopefully some strong word of mouth will make up for that. Can't wait to see it a 3rd time!

A lot of really good suggestions! Could easily have made three-four different fronts... ;) I've made two previews, one with only a concrete wall behind the arm, the other with a rusty metal grid over the wall. This grid looks a lot more like the one in the movie. I think the cages consisted of both grid and bars?? On the second I've also changed the smoke a bit, with a hint of green. The TT is 5% smaller so I could lower the names.

Pretty satisfied with the first one myself, not sure the grid or the green smoke works...
