I think Bazzah did this a while back for his "Strangers"

Go back a little further in history than that. Look at my earlier WIP's, Batman Begins Blu for starters. Posting sources is a good idea for up and comers. Established artists can easily tell whats what.

I really have nothing to say abut this wip. It's alright I guess. Problem is I have no interest in either the movie or this new overhyped version of Denise Richards to know if your cover suits the film.

Dude! You have more skills than me. I was kinda hoping you knew so I could swipe the technique.

Great idea, donger!! I think I'll try that!!

(Any ideas on how to make a bloody handprint look like it's slid down the board? I know how to put a bloody handprint there, just not sure what's the best way of accomplishing the "sliding-look")

Sorry, Irrob, you sound angry... I didn't mean to offend you. I know a number of designers have posted their sources and I didn't mean to imply that Bazzah was the only one who did it or that he was the one who started it. My apologies. :ashamed: :D

I'm also sorry the cover doesn't interest you, and I know Megan Fox doesn't have much going on in the personality department, but I'm working really hard on it and I think it's a good bit of Photoshop work, despite the film itself or the actress. :D :D :D

Use the brush and smudge. Instead of brushing the hard way you can finds lots of smear brushes on the net for free.

Thanks, Irrob! I found some handprint brushes over on deviantart, maybe a combination of the two will work nicely!! I'll search around for some smears... :D

I had some huge psd files of bloody hands but unfortunately my externals are in storage for a little while
and i'm using this computer that takes about 15 minutes to boot up lol as my old one decided to pull an
electronic fart and blew itself up.

Loving this cover!!!!! but there's nothing more i can add as it's pretty much perfect:)

Yup. Brush and smear seem to work pretty well for the bloody hand. I did a few quick try's and seemed to come up with some passable results. Good idea. Wouldn't have thought of that on my own.

Good to know. Can you point me to where you found the brushes? I tried a few (didn't spend too much time on it though) and wasn't thrilled with the results. And when people say "smear," do they mean the PS smudge tool or an actual smear brush? Just to be sure I'm doing it right... :D :D :D

I did the same thing and went to deviantart for brushes just for a quick test. You're right I meant the smudge tool, not smear. Well I did the smudge and used an Alienskin motion blur and just played around till I got something passable. Ended up with numerous layers with different opacities and even threw in a texture or two. Mind you my standards probably aren't as high as yours so there might be some better ways that I haven't stumbled upon yet.

Another option might be to go old school and try a real world test. I imagine if you had a suitable surface and used some dish soap in a contrasting colour to your surface you could create the effect and photograph it. Maybe even add a little food colouring to the mix if necessary. Just an idea
