I don't know what to say, but WOOOOW, the New Turtles covers are amazing thank you so much.

On one hand I really appreciate what you have achieved with this collection, it looks fabulous on my shelves, :) you should be really proud of yourself for what you have given to us all, it's a milestone in creativity, just the amount of covers is just amazing let alone the time you have put into them, I dread to think of how many hours it has taken.

I don't know you personally but I'm glad to have known you a little for this long and hope you drop in with something new every now and again, as you will be sorely missed if you give up forever, please don't :)

And on the other hand please give yourself plenty of time to re-evaluate your life, but I hope in time you can find a couple of hours to continue what your so great at, your one of the best cover designers and artists I've seen, not only for your comic collection, but for your other covers like True Blood, The Lost Boys, Transformers and Watchman to mention a few.

I understand and respect your decision to stop or slowdown at least :) I wish you well with all your endeavours and thank you so much again for giving so much of your time.

Best wishes, hope to see your work once again in time

All the best

Tony

Same here Andrew, it's a more than respectable decision, you've definitely made the most awesome and largest collection of covers, not only on this site but probably on the internet. I think you've made the entire HR forum really proud. I certainly hope that you don't take too long a break from cover making in general though, your comic book covers aren't the only great covers you've made and you'd be really missed if you did.
Anyway, I'm hoping you still pop in this thread every now and then so we can keep commenting on all the comic book movies that are coming up :D

Also great work on this last batch of covers, I think the collection is very complete, you've covered every major comic adaptation and practically every minor one too (and the ones that are missing people will never notice by now :D )

As always kernie excellent work on the comic collection. Relax, enjoy life and be happy, your creativity will be missed and I'm sure we'll see more covers from you in the future, but for now, it's break time.

You say it gives you so little in return, that makes me and maybe others that have sung your praises feel a bit small. Ultimately this is a hobby you do it for the love, not for the praise from other people. I think 300+ covers is amazing and as I've said before, a life's work but I must say sometime's you come off a tad unappreciative, you are THE designer of the site, that should have sunk in by now. Please don't mistake my tone, I have a great deal of respect for your skills with design in general not just this work, all of you work. Do I hope to see the summer comic movies that you haven't done, yes, do I want to see the one's you have done updated, yes, do I want to see a third Transformers movie blu ray cover, absolutely. Do I want you to geel like this is a hobby that entertains you and rewards you, more than anything. I respect you and I LOVE the cover set but it's a hobby. My hobbies are for entertainment, you need to ask yourself, what are yours for?

So long for now, I wish you well. I count myself as your biggest fan, if you look back I think I was the first or one of the first that suggested you take your animated series live action, if that's caused you turmoil, I apologize. If you ever do feel like coming back around, we'll be here, just marvel at your work, I do all the time, and I'm not even the guy that creates it!

Hey Kernie!!

Just saw the shout box, your comic series is aw some, i cannot say i'm a big fan of "comics" i can recognize the quality of the work and yours isn't good, it's very good, i'm more a fan of the movies they made and are making from those comics so i hope like a lot of the guys and wish for a captain america DVD/BD (whatever) cover by Kernie82 in the wips, and also like a lot of the guys, we'll be p155ed because we won't be able to find much of anything wrong with it, so hope you'll stick around with us, and just in passing i would like to extend to you my thanks for the time, help and suggestions you have offered me on the covers/label i made here it is greatly appreciated!!

I think all has been said already. Take your time and I think the entire cover community will look forward to the day you'll be back in making covers. Try to get back the fun in making them. Having fun not only is a motivation to continue making them, but also results in the best covers I think.

Sorry to offend you, Punisherchad. You misinterpreted my "little in return" comment as unappreciative of the support you and members like you have given this collection. What I actually meant was that, in the grand scheme of my life, this collection has not improved my career, financial situation, living situation, or my relationship (you know... "real world problems"), and I need to focus on things that will actually have some effect on the quality of my non-internet life. In the end, this hobby is somewhat trivial and I have very little to show to "the real world" for all the longs hours spent crafting this collection. If I could pay my bills in custom covers, I'd probably be set for life.

I am NOT ungrateful for the support you and other members have shown me. I thought that continuing to make covers for everything you wanted was enough of a token of my appreciation for your consistent support. Besides your Demon Knight/Bordello combo, what covers did I not work hard to make for you?

I make these covers to SHARE them, not to keep them to myself. I spend long hours on them, and often have to pay for access to resources, stock photos, etc. I enjoy the process, yes, but I also like to know that my hard work is seen by others. So maybe, yes... I do it for the praise. But deep down, what designer doesn't? The least I can hope for is a little feedback, which to be fair, you and many others have always been very gracious enough to provide. But there are many members who download and say nothing, and that is unfortunate. Believe me, the 5 seconds it takes to leave a comment either here or in the gallery is nothing compared to the days, weeks, and months that I've sacrificed so that these mute members can have a pretty cover for their shelf. It doesn't take long to do, so yes... I appreciate even the smallest ounce of praise for my trouble and would really appreciate it if everyone who downloads my stuff says something - even if it's just a smiley emoticon... it's something.

Your comment in the shoutbox was uncalled for. I never said that "nobody praises" this collection. And I don't want anyone to feel obligated to say something or patronize me with false compliments because of your comment. But interest has seemed to be down lately, and I can't keep spending hours upon hours making covers for a few people to download when I have bigger, more realistic matters in my life to attend to.

Sorry to have to take a break, I wish I could devote my life to beautifying everyone's DVD shelves for free, but please don't take this decision as personally as you seem to have taken it. I love this hobby when I have the time for it and I'm always grateful for the support of the members here. But your shoutbox stunt is making me think I should stay further away...

I honestly think you guys, that kernie started to feel like he was a request line for comic covers, and not a designer who is appreciated for what he has done.

I think he got so consumed by this collection, that when it came to other designs, they got perceived as inferior.

The comments here are right tho, kernie is HiRes's #1 designer... and because we think that, we all need to respect his decision to take some time for himself, and do so without saying that we wish him back soon so he can do more comic covers.

EDIT... I decided to start a new thread for this, so it can be separate...
