I like your design, and what I have to say is just my taste.. So if you don't use any of it, no hard feelings. I just feel like the guys should be bihher, and the young one should be larger, he is the main guy. Also I think remove all that dead space. and enlarge the jet and title. Add more contrast.

I personally love a lot of color, but I did a desaturated one too. I made this in 10 mins, so it's just an example. But no hard feelings if you don't want any of it.

Hey Rooker,
Thanks I'm glad you are liking it and thanks for the input. I'll definitely make Doug a little larger, but Louis Gossett was officially billed first so I don't want to minimize him too much. The dead space beyond the little border is for the spine and just for movement, kind of like what Kernie does. I've also reserved some of it for a few planes/helicopters and some explosions like the great ones you did! How did you do those BTW? I'm searching google for transparent explosions and have found some but I really like the 'sparks' that are coming out of yours. Unfortunately most of my imagery comes for screen caps so enlarging the plane or Doug too much may not be possible. Since it's such an old movie its really hard to find anything high quality. Oh, and I'll play with the contrast and blending more towards the end. I want to get some more exciting imagery in there first before doing that. :-)

Carved out another 1.5 hours after my kids finally went to sleep! So here's what I did tonight...

- Upped the saturation
- Found a more dynamic shot of the F-16 with weaponry
- Enlarged Doug, shrank Chappy a bit
- Rearranged light flares and added a big one between characters
- Added scratched metal texture behind entire cover
- NOTE: The darker edge is outside the cover area, it's bleed for nudging and the spine.

Anyway, I'm REALLY starting to love this cover! I still want to add a couple explosions ala RookerDesign's idea and an enemy plane or helicopter. However I'm not opposed to other ideas so creative criticism is encouraged!

Better jet... The glow on Louis's face to too strong. Makes him look deformed.

The explosions are from http://pngimg.com/search/?page=1&search=explosion

I've been to pngimg before but forgot about it, thanks for the link! Yes, I agree the glow might be a little too strong, I'll pull that back a little later tonight. I may also try matching the metal texture used in the TT and also pulling that back so it's not so intense. Thx for the input!

Nice updates on this!

I'd try something as parsi2 has suggested about the coulours.

The new jet is working much better in my opinion but I don't think the same for the matal texture all over the front. Remove it and just use some grain. ;)

Do you still need explosions?

Sure, if you have more explosions I would love to have more options!

I only had a little time last night to work on it but already reduced the opacity on that metal texture across the whole thing. I like it, but I don't love it. I think I like the idea of having a texture across the whole thing to help blend it, but I just need to play a little and find one I love. So I'm going to try and few different ideas and I'll make sure to try a little grain as well.

Thanks for the feedback Fidi!

QUESTION:
The credits area on the back cover... for older movies do you guys tend to use the original logos from when it was released or pretend like its a brand new cover released by the studio today and use all the updated logos?

Great updates! For the credits, I like to try and replicate the originals :)
