Kernie wrote:QUOTE (Kernie @ Feb 4 2016, 07:07 PM) I actually forget exactly what I did on the Scream cover. I believe I duplicated the original photo layer 3 or 4 times, applied different filters to each layer, and then adjusted blend modes and opacity on each layer until I got an effect that I liked.

Even on those covers, I don't feel like I've ever quite figured out a perfect way to make it look like a real drawing. :(

I guess if one could do a perfect drawing in photoshop real people who draw would be p155ed off and out of work right?

But the effects are great. have you seen the one i linked above. the cucoos nest one? that was done with topaz impression and adjust.

Looks pretty cool

Might mention most of those old cool looking posters are actually hand-drawn artist paintings and were not done digitally other than being scanned.

As Kernie and Ctaulbee have said the best way is to draw them and all the plugins will make it look fake but you can still get some great effects from them.

I actually do have some limited drawing ability, but am too lazy to actually take the time to do it for a cover. So I usually just resort to filters and plug-ins. As sauron said, it might not look authentic, but it can give some neat effects.
