Will this cover, just like your 2012 cover, also double as an "Ultimate SHIELD archive" but for the Marvel phase 2 movies?

I'm not sure yet. If I do decide to make this into a "Phase 2" cover, it might be a challenge adding in the Guardians characters, which I'd prefer to leave out for the individual "Age of Ultron" design. Still figuring out if this cover could serve as both.

As said above, great to see a WIP from you. Didnt realise the Iron Man image was an action figure, but that maybe why it looks odd, it seems a bit thin to me, like he has been on a drastic diet, apart from that looks like its gonna be another stunna

Hopefully once I've figured out the arrangement, Cap will cover the parts of Iron Man that seem a bit too thin. Still unsure if I will use the current Iron Man pose as well.

Not sure if this attached image will help? I don't think they're real image but looks close enough

These are the illustrated character images to which I've earlier referred. They're a bit too "painterly" to work in the "photo-real" style I'm aiming for, unfortunately. But thank you for sharing. :D

Update... thanks to all for their feedback and words of encouragement!

I realized that my previous post wasn't really working because I was trying to assemble a puzzle without connecting any of the pieces. So I chose to hide the characters (don't worry... they're still there, haven't scrapped them entirely) and work to establish a focal point for the design. This of course would be the team's leader, Captain America. A bit of a chore to piece this pose together (see image below) but I think it's working okay at the moment. Still a bit of tweaking to do and I will obviously add some lighting effects from the explosion behind him. Hopefully now I can proceed with this cover by arranging everyone around Cap as the central focus of the design and things might click a little easier.

Here are the various images used to create the Cap pose...

Thanks again to all who take the time to comment! :D :D :D

I must say I am looking forward to this cover, to go next to The Avengers.
Very impressive how you (and others) make something from many different images.

I like how you've decided to put Cap in and then work the others to him.

In a word, cool :)

Looking good Kernie! Like Nightrider said it's impressive how you all make so many different images work to make one.

Thanks Nightrider and sauron! :D

- Added Hulk.
- Completely reworked the debris pile from the previous cover so that some characters can be pushed further down on the hill, allowing more "sky room" for some of the flying characters (Falcon, Vision, and possibly moving War Machine into the air as well).
- Unsure if I want to keep the red/orange sky or adapt the color palette to more muted tones like in the retail artwork?
- Just realized I turned off the foreground sparks on this preview... they'll still be there in the final version.

Slowly but surely... it's getting somewhere... just trying to get the character arrangement down first, then will clean everything up. :D

Having now seen the movie wondering if a Quinn Jet would be a better choice than Falcon seeing as he doesn't really play a part in this movie ?

Lucky you! Doesn't open until next weekend here in the States. Isn't Anthony Mackie in the movie? He's listed in the billing block on the poster?

Here's an update... wondering if I should take this is a more "desaturated" direction, similar to some of the official theatrical posters?

Still struggling on this one with the resources that are available. Considering trying to rework the whole layout and not try so hard to match my previous Avengers cover...

Is this a step in the right direction or no?
