Looks great kernie haven't seen this new version on tv yet, watched the older show when I was a kid

The new show is okay, but it's a strong departure from the mythology and premise of the original 80's series. It's almost as though the current producers are embarrassed to be working on a "Thundercats" series, so they're using very little of the supporting characters/concepts/stories that made the original show so good (using the term "good" loosely) and creating an entirely new show that, at times, is "Thundercats" in name only.

Now, the original show wasn't Shakespeare, it was mostly one-dimensional and made to sell toys. But I have nostalgia for it, and if you go back and rewatch it (as I have), you'll see that there is an overall "arc" and mythos to the whole series. Sadly, the new show utilizes little of that and tries to do it's own thing far too much (which is fine, I wasn't expecting a verbatim recreation or anything), but it doesn't reward the fans of the original show by following the basic story of the 80s version or making use of the vast universe of characters/locations that were established by the old show.

To make a long story short (too late, I know), the new show is a fine animated program, but it's not the Thundercats that we children of the 80s know and love.

Have you planned to do covers for the 80's cats? Not that I'm asking you to in anyway make them, more of just a curiosity.

Yes, I am keeping that in mind with this design so that I can easily adapt it to making covers for the original 80s version. I think I will keep to the retail release structure for the original series, by putting all 130 episodes into 4 "volume" releases, allowing for 6 discs per case.

Looking good to be so far mate! I haven't got a clue what this series is about so not too sure what to suggest.

It's based on an old 1980's cartoon that I grew up watching. It probably wouldn't appeal to anyone watching it for the first time today, but as someone who has a deep childhood affection for this show, the old episodes still hold my interest.

Perfect cover. The usual from you. Honestly i don't have nothing to add, once again you nailed a great design with an amazing artwork for this title. I've started watching this new serie but it lacks the concept of the old show. It's good but not that great as the old one. And like you said the old one wasn't a fantastic animated show but it's part of my childhood and imo way better than this one.

It looks done to me.
Thanks for another great cover bud.

:)

@halo99: As far as i know Warner only released this on DVD format.

Like Arkflip said, this has only been released on DVD format so far. I know that there are HD download versions available from iTunes and Amazon, but aren't they only 720p? I could be wrong, but I don't think a full 1080p blu-ray quality version of the series has been released at this point. If a Blu-ray does get an official release, I'll try to do a conversion, but given WB's track record with releasing animated projects on Blu (I'm still waiting for more Justice League blu's), that might be a long way off. :D

Thanks. This is probably one of the fastest (non-Comic Collection) covers I've ever done. It's easy to do when you have good keyart, TT, and stills available! :D

Agreed. The old show had such a great universe of supporting allies and villains, and this new show didn't bother to use even a tenth of them. Heck, they didn't even bring all four of the Mutants together until the last episode! Like I said in my previous post, the new show is good, but it barely embraced its roots as a Thundercats series.
