Sorry if this is overstepping my bounds, but I couldn't help but notice that your original layout had a lot of potential if given a few adjustments.

I quickly threw these roughs together for you to get a better idea of what I was taking about in my earlier post. Using whatever crappy low-res images I could quickly grab off Google, I put these together to show how you can have a uniform layout across all films, keep the original TT, and have a separate font that stays consistent across all of the covers.

Decide who are the two most important characters in his films and put one on top (usually the most prominent or highest-billed) and the other on bottom. Slap the TT in the center (I'd suggest keeping the TT's white with minimal layer styles to provide some consistency) and change the actor names along the bottom of the color bar (change the color, of course), and you should have a pretty no-fuss template on your hands.

Hope this helps...

Oh... and if you don't want to go in this direction, let me know... I might end up making these into full covers myself if I ever find the time and energy!! :D :D :D

Nice update! It's headed in the right direction.

Do you mind terribly if I continue to work on the roughs I posted above and turn them into full covers? You've created an itch that I must now scratch! :laughin:

I'll start a WIP and you can gather pointers from what I'm doing, if that helps you as well?

Sorry if it seems like I'm hijacking your Fincher collection idea... :(

If you object, please say so...

Small update on the back and a spine. What to do next?

I don't care for all the red on the back. Maybe put something else (a different color, black perhaps?) behind the synopsis. It's too much red.

And do you really need all that stuff in the legals section? It's really reducing the amount of actual design space you have.

I think you should change the spin pic and get rid of the front logos they're not needed, love the new front. Also maybe reduce the size of the synopsis so you could maybe throw an image in the to get rid of the red. Can't wait to see more.

Nice changes! I'm liking the back much better now. I think the synopsis text could extend further to the left and start to overlap the blurred image of the gun. The stills look okay, but I'm wondering what you're going to put under them to fill in that blank space? Maybe you could slide the stills down so we can see more of the pic of Pitt and the gun?

I agree with RRJR about the spine pics. They're not really working at the moment. It might look better if you just used flat black or extended the images from the front to the spine, even if it's just the background, it might be less cluttered than trying to jam those images onto such a thin spine.

Keep it up, it's looks much better!! :thumb: :thumb:
