How about this scenario: Country "X" wins one gold...total, Country "Y" wins 5 silvers. Which country is on top? If one wants to celebrate the gold medals and ignore the other poor loser bastards who won silver and bronze, that's cool with me. :P :P :P :P

LMAO.... I think it should be a point scale

I think the Americans should fall in behind the rest of the world............I love em but, its very hard for a third world country to understand what is going on outside of their own borders... :giggle: :giggle:

Anyway, if they wanna be winners...............I say we should all respect that and, move onto insulting another country like.....FRANCE!!! :giggle: :giggle:

Seriously!!! I couldn't believe it! its just 1 gold medal. But the announcers made it seem like Canada just won the olympics. its weird. LOL

Wouldn't it make sense to work it out at the medals value? i.e gold = 3 points, silver = 2 points, bronze = 1 point.

United States 9 15 13 27+30+13=70
Germany 10 13 7 30+26+7=63
Canada 14 7 5 42+14+5=61
Norway 9 8 6 27+16+23=66
Austria 4 6 6 12+12+6=30

This would still put the US on top, but would also put Germany in 3rd instead of 2nd, Canada in 4th instead of 3rd and Norway in 2nd instead of 4th.

Well said my fellow Brit... but then we don't win anything, so it's an excellent attitude! lol

Hmmm, thought you'd catch that, bazzman. You gave Norway 23 points for their 6 bronze - hence the calculator comment. :P Not sure I agree entirely with wayne's comment - national pride plays a big part in international events, just ask any Canadian or American watching the gold medal hockey game. And ahhh, Canada rules!!
