Thanks for the feedback everyone. I was hoping to get more feedback from label designers; except for donger, everyone who replied primarily designs covers.

I have decided to run this comp without the strict rules I mentioned above - poster art and official TTs will be allowed. If this continues as a monthly comp, I may throw those rules in every now and again, but not on an ongoing basis.

I'm looking at the calendar with regards to the other monthly comps and see where it might be best to fit it in. I think it may work to run it concurrently with the HRC, since the two comps should attract different designers...although that would not keep anyone from entering both comps. Please, let me know what you think about that. If so, I will write down some official rules and try to kick it off by Wednesday.

Did you wanna pm or msn with me on this or just take matters into your own hands...dammit :P :P :P It's a nice idea to run this concurrently. I'm thinking the themes should be the same?

That sounds great to me, on the other hands I think we should kick off with label designers, and those who actually do labels for their covers, just to even the field so to speak, dag gone masters win everything, hehe

Just had a convo with Irrob flushing some of this out - here are the highlights for everyone's information:

Actually, I was thinking different themes may be in order - I don't watch "matching" labels to show up in the label comp. In fact, that is going to be one rule, that if a label is a "matching" label, then the cover cannot be entered into another comp, and cannot be posted until the comp is over.

I'm going to kick it off Wed or sooner if I type up the rules in time - going to have the same submit date as HRC though, the 20th. Basically going to follow the same calendar as HRC: Announce the theme on the 1st - submit on the 20th - vote until the 25th. Hopefully this will keep some of the true cover designers occupied with the HRC and the label comp can get new blood.

First theme is just going to be something simple - either blockbusters from 2009 or oscar nominees - something they may already be working on or planning on doing

Lastly - Baz and I are looking at the portal (home page), trying to find out how to change the competition area to make space for this and for Ky's competition.
