How can I create light beams like this?
I'm trying to make light beams like in this image. Just the beams not the rings.

I've tried using the polygonal lasso tool but I must be doing something wrong because the beams keep ending up a short nubs. Any ideas how to recreate these beams?

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Have you tried making them with the pen tool? It's much better for stuff like this than the polygonal lasso.
If you insist on using the lasso, make sure it doesn't have a feather amount set in your toolbar or some other goofy contract/expand property somewhere in your settings.
Without more info on what you're getting when you say "short nubs," it's tough to tell what's going on. But these are the first suggestions that sprung to mind. Hope it helps!

Yup, grabbed them both. Thanks again
Question. I hear people saying how they used brushes to make a cover, etc. How does that work? I only really use the basic brushes. I know it's seems like a generic question, but honestly I have no idea how to use a "designer" or custom brush to enhance a cover. Thanks for any info you can through my way.

you can get custom brushes over at deviantART and other websites as well, all you need to do is download them then load them from your brush pallette options and start using them......here is a link.

A very good question and a very good time to ask it.........
My 2 current WIP's "The Red one" [which is actually - Mandy Lane] THE FRONT IMAGE IS A BRUSH and "The White Ribbon" IS COMPLETELY MADE FROM BRUSHES........The reason I use this particular method for some of my covers is that I find it makes things a lot easier when I want to make a colour statement OR when I want a specific look. In this particular case I was making the brush using LEVELS and CONTRAST etc to, remove all the images SKIN TONE or UNWANTED GREY AREAS etc, until, I end up with something much like a line-drawing..........which, I could COLOUR to suit myself.
You can make High Resolution brushes for anything, with anything and as simple or as complex as you want!
But, in any event I just happen to love using Brushes and, have done for years.Last edited by kylumi on Sun Mar 14, 2010 8:12 am, edited 1 time in total.
