When i go to my computer i cant see my optical drives (dvd and writer) anymore, and nero wont work because they are not being reconised any ideas?

i have tried going to the device manager and i right click on the IDE and check for new hardware and it shows them for a while, then they dissappear again
Sorry for my English, i'm from Leicester innit?

Try uninstalling them in device manager, reboot and let windows reinstall. If you are using IDE, be sure to check those in device manager, IDE/ATA ATAPI controllers, primary IDE channel, right click, properties, advanced settings and make sure that it is either Ultra DMA, DMA and not PIO.

thanks i have resolved it, i was against your idea Miang because my IDE is connected via a PCI/IDEcard and i cant remember where i got the driver for the card, or which cd it might or might not be on


i was looking online why my system restore never works and it look like its an issue with Norton, so i booted in safe mode and managed to restore the pc a back to a working configuration.
