Just curious as i learn new techniques and ways of developing my skills
just wondering what other cover artists out there would rate there own personal
the covers they have done......

Here's mine first up and why....

Man On Fire

This is my favourite out of all the customs i had done using the use of black and white
images against a very strong red giving off a very stunning effect of contrast between
the two colours....This sit proudly on my shelf !!!!

Next number 2

Rocky: The Complete Saga

This is another favourite i created, Originally when started it was a stoney greyish background
which eventually was replaced with the grainy papered gold, to give it the same kind of feel
as the gold belt (meaning champion colours), This cover wasn't rushed as i wanted everything perfect
waiting around 5 days for a decent synopsis to be made which eventually was done by Paper Pills at
another site......And he did an excellent job in the synopsis to which i thank him....

and my 3rd choice

Demolition Man

This cover was hardly any resources about and creating retail style also
was a pleasure to do also...More so because i didn't use the poster art which
was retail based on the original cover also....So this turned out pretty damn good
and also very popular on a number of sites due to it's style and toning of colours.....

Now you've seen my top what are your top 3 covers you have designed and why?
look forward to seeing what you rate high :)

I think that our latest creations tend to the ones we like best. It's a result of developing taste and skill level. So, it's no surprise to me that your favorites, demon, are some of your most recent.

I cannot show mine unfortunately as you know most my covers are now produced for the porn industry :sponge1:

Okay, here's mine. I think these three will show the difference between someone with experience and talent (like Demonology above) and someone who just dabbles in this purely as a week-end hobby.

Tru Calling. This was done in PaintShop Pro and I proved to myself that I could take a blurry download from CDCovers.CC and recreate something (IMHO) as good as the retail. The front image is a scan, but the spine and back are mine. Bear in mind I don't see myself as any sort of graphic artist and I prefer a template to work with.

Inspector Morse Replacement. This one is another recreation, supposed to fit in with a collection that came out with a fortnightly magazine. To make this one, I really had to think about tiling, noise, layer transparency and blending. I also suddenly realised for the first time: if you want a leather book effect - scan a leather book. D'oh!
I uploaded it like this for people to make their own volumes as required. I myself used it to make double-disc covers, which I'd show you if Imageshack wasn't playing funny buggers right now.

Love & Basketball. I'm proud of this one because I made it out of nothing. I was trying to learn even just the basics of making textures and came up with something I thought looked like the basketballs I used at school so I warped it and shaded it and tried to make it look 3D. Someone had put Love and Basketball in the request section, so I turned it into that. This was my first attempt at doing something more creative than than using scans and posters.
